6. Moto G Turbo Edition:

A great fact is that, Moto G has been the most selling product across any category on any e-commerce platform in the history of Indian e-commerce. Carrying forward that legacy, Motorola has launched a new variant of the Moto G (3rd Gen) called as Moto G Turbo Edition. The new Moto G Turbo Edition comes with the same design of Moto G (3rd Gen) but comes with a more powerful octa core processor, better Adreno 405 GPU (than Adreno 306 in Moto G3) and TurboPower charging capability, rest all the features remain the same. So let’s get into details of the new phone. It has a very simple design from the front and a very classy curvy back which has a vertical strip which houses the camera, LED flash and the Moto logo, this strip looks very beautiful and adds uniqueness in the design of the phone. The phone is very comfortable to hold in hand and offers good grip. It sports a 5 inches HD screen with 294 ppi pixel density which is decent. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 615 Octa Core Processor coupled with 2GB RAM, so those who loved Moto G (3rd Gen) but wanted more power for gaming and multitasking can now rejoice. It runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with stock Android UI, which also makes the performance good. Great thing is that, it will always get the future Android updates and that too faster than many flagship phones! For the first two generation Moto G’s, camera was the weakest point, but now it’s the strongest. It packs a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens, HDR & dual-LED flash. The 5 MP front camera comes with f/2.2 lens and a Field of view (FOV) of 72 degrees. Both the cameras are really good. An icing on the cake is, it is water-resistant for upto 30 minutes, this IP67 certification is provided by no phone in the near price range. The 2470 mAh battery gives a good battery life and with TurboPower charging, it can be used for 6 hours from just 15 minutes of charging, claims the company. It has 16 GB internal & upto 32 GB expandable storage, Dual Sim & 4G. Overall, it may not offer you the best specs and design at this price but, it is the most popular phone with a comfortable 5 inches screen and works perfectly well for most types of users, it can still be a good choice. The newly launched Moto G4 Play is also available at Rs. 8,999, it comes with smaller 8 MP rear camera but a bigger 2800 mAh battery and VoLTE support.

[section label=”7. Meizu M3 Note”]

7. Meizu M3 Note:

Meizu has launched its much awaited powerful budget smartphone Meizu M3 Note in India. The phone packs a beautiful and sturdy unibody metal design and is really very well-built, seeing the design, one cannot guess the phone costs just under 10k. If we look at the placement of buttons, the power and volume rockers rest on the right side and there is a physical home button on the front below the screen, which also integrates the fingerprint sensor but, there are no ‘back’ and ‘recent apps’ button on the phone, the home button itself does all these functions, off course inspired from the iPhones! The Meizu M3 Note sports a 5.5 inches Full HD screen which has very good display quality with good viewing angles. A 2.5D curved glass overlays the screen, which gives a good look and also feels nice in the hands. The phone is powered by the 1.8 GHz Mediatek Helio P10 Octa-core processor paired with 3 GB RAM, it gives good performance for medium usage but when it comes to heavy gaming the phone lags a little so, if you want a phone for gaming there are much better phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 around this price. It features a 13 MP rear camera which does pretty well in good lighting conditions but struggles in low light conditions, the 5 MP front camera does a good job though. It runs on the older Android 5.1 Lollipop based company’s Flyme OS 5.1. It is a dual sim phone supporting 4G on both the slots. It comes with 32 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card, but it has hybrid slot. The fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate most of the times. The phone is backed by a big 4100 mAh battery which gives it a very good battery backup. Overall, the Meizu M3 Note is an extremely well-built phone for its price, it also packs decent performance, good features and a good battery life. It can be another good choice, specially if you give more importance to design, it can be a great choice. The newly launched Meizu M3s with 5 inches 2.5D curved glass screen, 13 MP camera, Octa Core Processor, 3 GB RAM and fingerprint scanner can also be an alternative.

[section label=”8. Huawei Honor 5c”]

8. Huawei Honor 5c:

After a long time, Huawei has launched a really competitive smartphone in the budget segment in India. The Huawei Honor 5c boasts a full metal uni-body design which looks beautiful and has a very good build quality, it also feels good in hands but a slightly slimmer build and lighter weight would have made the experience even better. It sports a 5.2 inches Full HD display which has excellent color reproduction and good viewing angles. The Honor 5c is powered by an Octa Core Kirin 650 Processor with 16 nm Chip Technology paired with 2 GB of RAM, the performance of the phone is very good. It features a 13 MP rear camera which has very good image quality. The 5 MP front camera is also decent, also, the Huawei’s camera app comes with many built-in features which prove very handy. The phone runs on the latest Android v6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s own EMUI 4.1 running on top. The Honor 5c packs a fingerprint scanner placed on the back below the rear camera, it not only unlocks the phone but it can also be used to click images, answer phone calls, toggle notification panel, browse photos and silence the alarms. It is dual sim phone. It comes with 16 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card but it is a hybrid slot so, at a time you can either use the two sim or one sim and the microSD card. It is backed by a non-removable 3000 mAh battery which delivers good battery backup. Overall, the Huawei Honor 5c is a very good smartphone with good performance, camera and design. It can be another good choice at this price and if you specially want a little compact phone, the Honor 5c with its 5.2 inches screen can be the best choice around this price. Huawei’s new Honor Holly 3 is also available around the same price but is a poor option when compared to Honor 5C.

[section label=”9. Micromax Yu Yureka S”]

9. Micromax Yu Yureka S:

After quite a long time, Yu has launched a new phone in its popular ‘Yureka’ series, the last phone in the Yureka series was the popular Yureka Plus. Talking about the design of the phone, it comes with a complete plastic body, while having soft rubber type edges on the sides. The best part in its design language is the big black circle on the back of the phone, which houses the camera and the flash, this is typical design language visible in most of the Yu phones. Summing up the design, the Yureka S looks beautiful but unlike most popular phones at this price, it doesn’t come with a metallic body which is a disappointment. It sports a 5.2 inches Full HD display which comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the display quality is good with good viewing angles. The Yureka S is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and Adreno 405 GPU, it delivers decent performance and can handle gaming also however, considering the phone is launched in mid 2016 it must have come with a newer processor in the Snapdragon 6xx series like the competition. The phone runs on the older Android v5.1.1 Lollipop with Yu’s Around Yu UI, here also the newer Android 6.0 Marshmallow is missing, however, the Around Yu UI is very feature rich and allows you to book cabs, hotels, flights, order food and much more and, now it also includes a wallet so you can recharge your mobiles, DTH, etc. right from your homescreen and you can do all these without installing any apps like Ola, Uber, Foodpanda, Freecharge, PayTM, etc., just swipe left from the homescreen and the single platform does all these, it is very useful. It features a 13 MP rear and a 5 MP front facing cameras, both the cameras are decent but not exceptional and better camera phones are available at this price. The phones packs good speakers with rich audio output. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It packs 16 GB of onboard storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card but comes with a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Po battery which supports Quick Charge 1.0 and delivers decent battery backup. Another disappointing thing in the phone is the lack of the fingerprint scanner. Overall, the Yu Yureka S is a decent phone but, when you compare it with the competition, it looks like a thing of the past and would have been a good buy an year ago but today, much better packages are available at this price. If you want a bigger phone, the Yu Yureka Note can be a good option. The Micromax Canvas 6 Pro and Micromax Canvas 5 are also available around the same price and can be good choices.
