5 Best Android Phones under 15000 Rs (July 2014)

by Rahul DubeyJuly 1, 2014

Looking to buy a mid ranged smartphone? Then it can be a very tedious task. As there are number of good phones in this range which make everybody confused and helpless. Don’t worry now, I am here to help you out. I have written the latest ranking of 5 Best Android Phones under 15000 Rs. for the month of July. Read it and compare the phones and choose the best one for you.

Last month hundreds of readers of this blog had commented and asked which phone they should choose among the crowded market. Which has made me better understand the requirements and view point of the buyers. So I am trying to make this list even easier for you by giving you appropriate information. You are always welcome to ask your queries.

There are many phones in this price range but there is one phone which dominates the list from last five months. So, which phone is this? Let’s find out in the list of 5 Best Android Phones under 15000 Rs. :

#Buying Tip:

There are some amazing offers and discounts available in many categories on Flipkart, the no. 1 shopping site in India. Buying your Smartphones, Laptops and other gadgets online can be a wise decision as buying online can definitely save you some money. And no doubt Flipkart is best for Indian buyers.

1. Motorola Moto G:

If you wish to buy a phone around 15,000 Rs. then buy Moto G, its the best. I have recommended  Moto G to thousands of readers of this blog and many of my friends and not a single person has complained about the device. Five months after its launch in India, it has maintained its magic in the market. After the phone was launched at Flipkart, the 16 GB model went out of stock in just 15 minutes, the phone is a huge success now, not only in India but throughout the world. It has raised the standard in the 15,000 range. The phone runs on the very latest Android 4.4 Kitkat with promised updates to atleast few Android versions. Excellent build quality and amazing performance. The amazing Snapdragon 400 processor had made sure that my Moto G hasn’t lagged since I bought it four and a half months ago. The phone has very good screen and HD display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and it has also got water repellent coating. It has got one of the best ratings and user reviews with thousands of users being very satisfied. Although its camera is just 5 MP, the phone is still the best overall package. Its worth to compromise over the camera. Another advantage to buy the Moto G is that, it is a very popular phone and it is always there in the news so, it will always get the attention of the developers and the company.

2. Micromax Canvas Turbo:

If you don’t want to buy Moto G for any reason, say you want a better camera, then the Canvas Turbo is another great choice for you. This is a real beauty from Micromax. The phone looks good, feels great and performs amazingly well. Also, it feels lighter in the hands than other phones. After its launch few months back, the phone has become very popular around the range of 18,000 Rs. But now after the launch of Canvas Knight, the price of Turbo has been significantly reduced to 14 thousands. And at this price point, it has amazing specifications and excellent performance.

3. Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro:

Many people find it difficult to buy Moto G or phones from Micromax and other Indian brands because they are concerned with the after sales service. And there is no doubt, Samsung and Nokia excels in the customer service department and that is the reason, people have strong trust on these brands. The Grand Quattro is there in the market for a long time now and is very successful. If you want a very reliable brand with good performance and an overall package then this is the one.

4. HTC Desire 516:

This is another phone launched to challenge the Moto G, and it also unsuccessful to match the level of the giant of this range – The Moto G. The screen resolution and ppi are much better in the Moto G moreover, the Desire 516 run on Jelly Beans 4.2.2 and the Moto G runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with guaranteed update to the next Android version. Apart from the comparison, let’s take a look at the Desire 516. It runs on 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 200 Processor and 1 GB of RAM which gives good performance. The screen size of 5.0 inches is good but the screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels is disappointing. Both the front and rear cameras are good. The design and build quality is good and the phone looks beautiful. The phone has internal storage of only 4 GB which should have been atleast 8 GB but, it can be expanded upto 32 GB. If you don’t want to buy Moto G for any reason or you are a HTC fan, then this phone can be a good choice, although again it is an overpriced phone from HTC.

5. Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus:

This phone was launched to challenge the Micromax Canvas Knight and now its price has been dropped and it costs just a little over 15,000 Rs. So now, the Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus becomes a good choice and it is better than any other octa core processor phone available in this range. The phone has very attractive top of the line specifications but be prepared to get a little less than what the specs promise to deliver. Anyways, at this price point, it can be good choice if you are looking for a phone with good, premium design and high performance. Note that it is not available in other stores as it is launched exclusively on Snapdeal, but not to worry they are delivering phones  in good condition and offering good services.

    Hey Rahul

I have a Nokia Lumia 920 running on Windows 8 which has this unique problem.

    – The SIM Card Detection piece suddenly stopped working. It would say “No Service” or “No SIM” . Same Micro sim would work ok in other phones.

In some cases, the signal would show up for some time and then end up in No Signal Mode . This happened in a morning 4 days back though the phone was never dropped !!!

    Troubleshooting Tried:
    – Clean the SIM and try again
    – Try with different SIM
    – Reboot the phone
    – Soft Reset
    – Hard Reset (to factory state)
    – For Some SIMs, the SIM would indicate that signal is available, but outgoing /incoming calls cannot be made – stating as Call Dropped

Still the problem prevails. I did not want to void the warranty by updating to 8.1 through developer edition.
But I doubt if that can resolve the problem

Other functionalities do work – like music, camera etc. But what’s the fun when the core functionality is failing 🙂

    Phone Warranty:
The phone is less than 2 months old bought from the U.S… Nokia India has refused warranty support for phones
    purchased outside of India.

Any help or information is greatly appreciated

Every Nokia Lumia phone is having this problem, even if you spend money n go to service centre , they also cant solve the problem. Its the os. Try 8.1. It might solve your problem.
      Good luck

  • July 20, 2014 at 1:31 pm

Hi Sir, great article. Wanted to know which one would be better – Xiaomi MI3 or Moto G? On paper, the Mi3 has excellent specs – much better than MotoG, but MotoG is more popular. Which one to go for?

    • July 24, 2014 at 11:47 pm

Hi, there is not doubt the Mi3 is a better phone but your usage and performance will matter to decide over the two. The Moto G is much popular, a very trusted (in performance and service) and a good all round phone. The Mi3 has got top end specs but Xiaomi is relatively new in India and there are clouds over their service. So now, if your usage is average go with Moto G and if you need a more powerful phone go with Xiaomi.

Is Moto G front cam good or not,
Shall i go with moto G, MI 3 or Xolo q1010i or Xolo play

    • July 23, 2014 at 12:21 pm

Hi, its front camera is good. Skip the Xolo’s and depending on your usage you can choose between Moto G and Xiaomi Mi 3. If you want a very good and dependable phone you can go with Moto G and if you want a high end phone which has excellent performance go with Mi 3.

I want to buy the MOTO G but I am Skeptical about buying it online. My concerns are what happens if the instrument is defective will it be replaced also I don’t the service center for Motorola Phones.
My other question is, Is MOTO G waterproof?

    • July 17, 2014 at 11:29 pm

Hi, don’t worry, you can buy products online. If you get a defective piece, it will be replaced for sure. Motorola has service centers at most big cities across India. And it is not actually waterproof but its water resistant meaning it won’t survive in a bucket full of water but it can survive in light rains or if little water falls over it.

    • July 8, 2014 at 3:17 pm

Hi, yes Moto G will be better as when we actually use the phone we never notice the specs but what we want is the best experience. And Moto G is best in that.

    • July 8, 2014 at 3:24 pm
