1. Moto X Style:

Motorola is having a great run in the Indian market from last year, all of its phone have been hit since its comeback in India and the same is bound to happen with the new Moto X Style. Its name includes ‘Style’ so let’s talk about the design first. The Moto X Style comes metallic sides and premium back covers which are available in different colors and textures like other Moto phones. The back of the phone is curved due to which it fits in perfectly in hands however it comes with a pretty large 5.7 inches screen but, Motorola has really reduced on the size of bezels around the screen so despite the bigger screen it feels as big as a 5.5 inches phone. To finish with design, the phone looks similar to other Moto phones like the Moto X (2nd Gen) and the Moto Nexus 6 but, if you spare that, it is indeed beautiful. The 5.7 inches screen has a 2k (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution with a great 520 ppi pixel density, the display quality is amazing. It is powered by the popular flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core Processor clocked at 1.8 GHz and paired with 3 GB RAM and delivers great performance. It comes with a 21 MP rear camera which is by far the best rear camera seen on any Moto phone till now, it features f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detect Auto-Focus (PDAF), Dual Color Correlated Temperature (CCT) flash, 4X digital zoom, Video Stabilization and 4K video recording at 30fps. The 5 MP front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture, Wide-Angle lens and a front flash, it is also good in picture quality. The phone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box with Stock Android UI and will be soon upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is a Dual Sim 4G enabled smartphone and comes with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options and is also expandable upto 128 GB. The Moto X Style is backed by a non-removable 3000 mAh battery but, the Quad HD display needs much more power and the phone disappoints a little in battery life, it can still run throughout the day with medium usage. But it comes with really fast Turbo Charging feature which the company says can charge the phone for use upto 8 hours in just 15 min of charging! The dual front speakers on the phone have rich & loud sound quality. Overall, the Moto X Style is a powerful well designed phone with good cameras and Stock Android UI which will be upgradable for years, a great package with great user experience! If you want an even bigger phone, you can also go with the 6 inches Google Motorola Nexus 6.

3. Samsung Galaxy A8:

At 5.9 mm, it’s the slimmest phone from Samsung! It’s not only slim but it’s a full metal body stunningly beautiful smartphone. The Galaxy A8 has got a great build quality, a feat with which Samsung’s phone are not quite familiar! Although, it has got a plastic back panel, it’s good in quality and gives a good feel with the matte finish. The phone has got very slim bezels on the sides of a large 5.7 inches Full HD Super AMOLED display which has excellent quality. It is powered by 1.8 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Processor, well at this price, you would for-sure except a better processor than this but coupled with 2 GB RAM, it still delivers decent performance. Though for gaming and heavy multitasking, there are much better options at this price. Cameras have been the strength of Samsung for years and the 16 & 5 MP cameras of the Galaxy A8 belong to the same league. Both the cameras come with a f/1.9 aperture and capture excellent images. The front camera comes with Wide Selfie function which gives you a 120° view so, you can capture good group selfies. Samsung has also added Quick Camera Launch function to the Galaxy A8 which allows you to open the camera app in just 0.9 seconds by double pressing the home button. Another advantage with the phone is its Fingerprint sensor mounted into the home button. So, you just have to place your finger on the home key and your phone unlocks. It runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based Samsung’s TouchWiz skin. It supports dual sim, 4G and comes with 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB with the help of a microSD card but, it will use a sim slot. It houses a Li-Ion 3050 mAh battery which gives a good battery backup to the phone. Overall, it’s not the best performer but if you look at the premium slim design, good display and excellent cameras, the Galaxy A8 is a great package with the best after sales support so, if you are not after heavy usage it can be a great buy.

4. LG G3 (32 GB):

With the launch of the new flagship LG G4, the popular LG G3 gets a price cut and now it’s priced around 30,000 Rs. The LG G3 catches eye with its unique design elements and brushed metallic finish on its body. The power button and the volume rockers are placed below the camera at a vertical strip on the back of the phone. The LG G3 offers a brilliant 5.5 inches 1440 x 2560 pixels Quad HD IPS LCD display which is great. It offers a 538 ppi pixel density which is awesome! It is powered by a 2.5 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM which makes it a great performer. It also features an amazing 13 MP rear camera, which has a laser auto-focus system which can click really amazing high quality photos. The phone has got a 2.1 MP front facing camera. It currently runs on Android v5.0 Lollipop. Well, the software is latest but the design language and the icons of LG’s own skin doesn’t impress much. The LG G3 is a single sim device, it supports 4G and has very good connectivity features like NFC and Infrared port. The phone has 32 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB. The LG G3 is powered by 3000mAh battery which ensures long-term usage of the smartphone. Overall, the LG G3 offers a great package at this price and is a complete value for money phone. LG & Google have also launched the new Nexus 5X at Rs. 31,999, it comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 808, 2 GB RAM, 12.3 MP rear & 5 MP front camera but, at Rs. 31,999 it comes with only 16 GB storage which is not expandable, it is a good phone but going with th 32 GB variant will be a better choice but it will need you to spend some extra bucks.

5. Sony Xperia Z2:

The Sony Xperia Z2 is a great combination of powerful specs, amazing design and great user experience. It sports a 5.2 inches screen with Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass, Sony has used the Triluminos display and X-Reality Engine in the Xperia Z2, these are the display technologies which Sony uses in its Bravia LED TV’s. So the display of the phone is very good and it scores full marks in it. It runs on the Quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 Processor which is very powerful, moreover it has got 3 GB RAM so the performance of the phone is great! Whether its gaming or multimedia, it can handle everything smoothly. Xperia Z2 has got the 20.7 MP camera which has just awesome image quality, it has also got the 2.2 MP front camera which is a disappointment at today’s time. It has got the Android 5.0 Lollipop update which runs smoothly on the phone and enhances the user experience. The internal storage is 16 GB which can be expanded upto 128 GB. The phone has got a great battery life with the Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery. The Xperia Z2 is a premium Sony phone so it is Dust and Water proof! Overall, with its stunning design, amazing build quality and great features, the Sony Xperia Z2 can be a good buying choice. For selfie lovers, Sony has launched the new Xperia C5 Ultra with 13MP front camera and 6 inches screen around Rs 27,000. Sony has also launched the new Xperia M5 with 21.2MP rear and 13MP front cameras and Mediatek Helio X10 processor with 3GB RAM, it is a good phone but with a price tag of above 33,000 Rs. it is much overpriced.

Dear Rahul, this site is an amazing idea from you. Your reviews are very good. I am a person who usually criticise review writing. In that context, if I were to say, for Moto X Style you have written all those good reviews, but in your verdict, the name of the phone is Moto X Play. Please correct it. I was a person who admired the Moto X Style as the best ever phone. But from your reviews, HTC one E9 also seems good. Let me stroll through that once. One more thing, it is high time that the world should stop using Samsung and turn to HTC or Motorola or other Indian branded phones. I have used Samsung for 1.5 years now and I opine that’s the worst phone ever.

    • November 6, 2015 at 4:33 pm

      Hello Anish,

Happy to know you liked the site and reviews 🙂 . About Samsung, I agree with what you have said, but in the last one year they have improved really well, their current generation flagships are really good but they need to do much more in budget phones, the competition is far ahead.

Also, I have corrected the mistake, thanks for the feedback.
