Apple launches 9.7 inch iPad Pro with 12MP iSight camera, price starts at $599
As expected, Apple has launched the new 9.7 inch variant of iPad Pro along with the iPhone SE at an event held in its corporate headquarter in Cupertino, California. The 9.7 inch iPad Pro is the smaller version of the 12.9 inch iPad Pro that was launched in last November.
The 9.7 inch iPad Pro is almost similar to its big brother, as it is powered by the same A9X processor and comes with the same three storage variants; 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The key difference between the bigger and smaller iPad Pro (apart from size) is the 12-megapixel iSight camera (same as the iPhone 6s) with Focus Pixels, True Tone Flash, new image signal processor. On the front side, it sports a 5-megapixel FaceTime camera. It also supports the Live Photos feature.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro also supports the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard accessories, which means that the new iPad Pro also features the Smart Connector. It also houses a four-speaker system and, the company has doubled the memory quantity from 2 GB to 4 GB. It comes in Gold, Space Gray, Silver, and Rose Gold color variants.
Pricing of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro starts at $599 for the 32GB Wi-Fi only model, while the 128GB model will cost $749. The 256 GB model for both the iPad Pro models, starts at $899. The new iPad Pro will be available for pre-orders starting on March 24, with the device’s official release date being March 31.
In India, the 32GB storage variant (Wi-Fi only) costs Rs. 49,990, and Rs. 61,900 for the 32GB storage variant (Wi-Fi + Cellular). Apple also revealed the Apple Pencil will be available at Rs. 8,600, the Smart Keyboard at Rs. 13,900, Polyurethane iPad Pro Smart Cover at Rs. 3,700, Silicone Cases at Rs. 5,200, Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader at Rs. 2,500, Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter at Rs. 2,900, Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter at Rs. 4,100, Lightning to USB-C Cable (1 metre) at Rs. 2,300, and Lightning to USB-C Cable (2 metre) for at Rs. 2,900. The new 9.7 inch iPad Pro will be available from early April in India.
Apple also introduced the new Apple Watch Sports bands and Leather Bands with new colors at the event.
