1. Moto G4 Plus:
One of the most awaited phones of the year – the new 2016 Moto G, which is called as the Moto G4 Plus is now launched. Those familiar with the Moto G phones know how popular these phones have been and those who are not aware of all this should know that the Moto G4 Plus is the 4th edition in the Moto G series and all the previous 3 generation phones have been extremely successful in India. Back in 2014, the Moto G was first launched in India, since then it has been the most selling phone in Indian e-commerce, it helped in spreading e-commerce in India by starting the ‘online exclusive’ and ‘flash sales’ trend. So, it has a great legacy to carry, now let’s talk about the phone. Starting with the design, the Moto G4 Plus comes with a polycarbonate body and everything is plastic here, the back has a leather like finish which feels good and the build quality is excellent. I won’t say the phone looks good, specially when you have many of the full metal unibody phones at the same or lower price but, it has good grip and feels comfortable to hold in hands. It sports a big 5.5 inches Full HD screen with very good display quality although, the screen is a fingerprint magnet. If we talk about the performance, it runs on the 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 617 Octa-core processor coupled with 2/3 GB RAM and Adreno 405 GPU, it can handle heavy usage and gaming but it heats up a little and also there are much better phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which deliver great performance, so the Moto G4 Plus is not recommended for heavy users. When it comes to the camera department, the Moto G4 Plus stands taller from the crowd. It features a 16 MP rear camera with Laser auto-focus, PDAF, ƒ/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash and the Professional Mode, the camera is really amazing, it has good colors, sharpness and performs very well even at low light conditions, it is by far one of the best camera you can get at this price. The 5 MP front camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture is also one of the best or probably the best at this price. As always the case for Moto phones, the Moto G4 Plus runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Stock Android UI, although Moto has added few helpful features like the Moto Display. And the phone will always get the latest Android updates for years. For the first time, the company has added a fingerprint scanner in its phone and it works well, it is placed below the screen. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support. It comes in 16 GB and 32 GB storage options and is expandable upto 128 GB with a dedicated microSD slot. The phone is backed by a Non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery which gives decent battery life, it can last for a day with medium to heavy usage. It supports fast charging via Moto’s Turbo charger. Overall, when you talk about a Moto G phone, it is always about the user experience and the stability between hardware and software, and the Moto G4 Plus again achieves that, it runs smoothly. So, with latest software, great cameras, good performance and all the required features, it can be a great choice with closed eyes. And as a complete package, it is the best phone under 15000 Rs. in India at present however, heavy gamers should go for the even more powerful Redmi Note 3. Motorola has also launched the Moto G4 in India at Rs. 12,499 but, you should ignore it and go with the Moto G4 Plus only. The Moto X Play (16 GB) is also available at Rs. 15,499.

2. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (32GB):
After a long wait, Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi Note 3 in India. The phone has been highly successful in China and with all the features it packs, the same success story seems to repeat in India as well. Starting with the design, the Redmi Note 3 boasts a premium metallic design and excellent build quality, it feels great and looks beautiful, while the curved edges on the back gives it a good grip as well. The phone has a 5.5 inches Full HD display with 401 ppi pixel density and has very good display quality but, it doesn’t come with Gorilla Glass screen protection. The Redmi Note 3 is powered by the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Processor which has 6 cores, out of which four are 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 and the rest two are 1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 CPU’s which handle the heavy usage. The Redmi Note 3 is the world’s first phone to come with Snapdragon 650 processor, which is very powerful and delivers performance better than many flagship processors, it also doesn’t heat up much as well. The phone comes in two variants, one has 16 GB storage + 2 GB RAM and the other has 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM. It is equipped with a 16 MP rear camera which comes with PDAF and Dual-Tone LED Flash and clicks very good quality images. On the front, it has a 5 MP shooter which too is capable of clicking good quality selfies. Another highlight of the Redmi Note 3 is its fast fingerprint scanner which can unlock the phone in just 0.3 seconds, the phone also includes Infrared Blaster which allows you to control your TV, AC, music system and many other electronic appliances. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Xiaomi’s beautiful MIUI 7 running on top. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support, it allows storage expansion and supports microSD cards upto 128 GB but, it has hybrid slot so at a time, you can either use the second sim or the microSD card. It is backed by a big 4050 mAh battery which gives a pretty good battery life, easily lasting for a day or even more. Also, despite a big battery and metal build, the phone weighs 164 grams and has a thickness of 8.65mm so, you get all the features without the added bulkiness. Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 delivers great flagship like performance, a good-looking premium design and packs all the excellent features at a very good price, it is really a great buy and heavy users or gamers will love it. Although, it is at the 2nd spot in our list, it can easily be your preferred choice as it excels the Moto G4 Plus in many departments and also saves you some money. So, heavy users, this is the best phone under 15000 Rs. for you. Under Rs. 15,000, Xiaomi has also launched an excellent smartphone Mi Max with a huge 6.44 inches screen although, it won’t be the right choice for most of the users but those who have fallen in love with the phone’s bigger screen and its advantages and are ready to sacrifice a bit of comfort in handling the phone will absolutely love it, it is almost perfect for its intended user type.

3. LeEco Le 2
LeEco is speedily extending its hold in the Indian smartphone market, be it in the hardware department or the entertainment packages, they offer a lot. The LeEco Le 2 is the successor to its popular LeEco Le 1s. Design wise, there are not many changes in the Le 2 from its predecessor. It packs a premium full metal body which is very well-built. The rear camera housing on the back looks beautiful and adds a good look to the phone. It has a 5.5 inches Full HD display which has very good quality. The phone is powered by the new Snapdragon 652 Octa Core processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and delivers great performance, which is even a little better than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. You can play heaviest of the games without lagging and severe heating issues. The Le 2 features a 16 MP rear camera which has good sharpness, depth and an overall excellent picture quality. The 8 MP front camera is also very good. But the USP of the phone is, it is the first phone to ditch the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack and use the new CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) technology using the Type-C USB port, which ensure high quality audio through the headphones. Thankfully, the company provides a Type-C USB to 3.5 mm jack adapter which will prove very handy when you don’t have the Type-C headphones and want to use the most popular 3.5 mm jack headphones. The phone runs on latest Android Marshmallow with company’s EUI running on top, the EUI is beautiful, stable and well optimized. The fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support on both the slots. The Le 2 comes with 32 GB internal storage space, but sadly it doesn’t have a microSD slot so, those who love to plug-in and out the microSD card frequently will be disappointed. The phone is backed by a non-removable 3000 mAh battery which comes with fast charging capability and charges the phone quickly. The battery life is decent. And, not to forget the company’s Supertainment package which includes subscription from many popular Indian media providers, media lovers will love this. If we talk about the downsides, the lack of microSD slot can be a disappointment for some, while the missing 3.5 mm headphone jack can be seen in both ways, early adopters will like it while, traditional users will find it a little annoying at stages. Also, beware that you won’t be able to charge the phone and use the headphones simultaneously as, there is only one port for both the jobs. Overall, the LeEco Le 2 is a complete smartphone, be it design, performance, multimedia or the camera, it is pretty good in almost every department. It directly competes with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and beats it in many departments. It is a great value for money phone under 15000 Rs. but, before you get too excited make sure you can live without the 3.5 mm headphone jack!
|OS||Android v6 Marshmallow | UI - EUI|
|CPU||1.8 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 Processor|

4. Coolpad Cool1 Dual:
Last year, LeEco became the largest shareholder of Coolpad and both the Chinese companies decided to launch new smartphones under the new “Cool” branding, apart from launching smartphones in their own brandings. The Coolpad Cool1 Dual is the first smartphone in the Cool series, let’s get into the details of the phone. Starting with the design, the Cool1 packs excellent metallic body and looks similar to the LeEco Le 2 or even more similar to the LeEco Le 1S Eco except, the rear camera unit is placed in center on top. The phone looks beautiful and feels sturdy and premium. It comes with a 5.5 inches Full HD IPS display which has good quality, although the large black bezels around the display are annoying. On the performance front, it runs on the very powerful 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 652 processor coupled with 4 GB RAM and Adreno 510 GPU and delivers great performance, which is one of the best at this price. It can handle heavy gaming and multitasking well. However, the biggest highlight of the Cool1 is, it packs in two 13 MP rear cameras, one captures the usual coloured photos while the other one captures monochromatic (black & white) photos. When you click a picture, both the cameras work simultaneously and produce a single image with added details and depth. The picture quality is very good in good lighting conditions however, there is a little noise in low light conditions but, it is acceptable at this price. A great benefit of the dual camera setup is, it allows Bokeh effect (background blurred) like DSLRs, it doesn’t work perfectly well all the times but the images come great when you manage to apply it properly. You can also change the focus point of the image after it is clicked. It also allows you to click artistic black and white images and also supports 4K video recording; the camera app is also good. The 8 MP front camera is also a decent shooter, it comes with the face beautification feature. Summing up the camera, the Cool1 packs good cameras for its price, the added Bokeh effect is a really nice thing to have. The phone runs on LeEco’s EUI 5.6 based on Android v6.0 Marshmallow. The EUI is good; it is fast, efficient and customisable. The fingerprint scanner on the back is fast. The phone includes IR Blaster and Remote app which lets you control your TV, Set top box, AC, Music System, etc. with your phone, it is a very handy feature and very few phones support it. It is a Dual Sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. The Cool1 comes with 32 GB of internal storage but sadly it is not expandable, this is the biggest downside in the phone. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery which delivers excellent battery backup. It also supports Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging via USB Type-C port which charges the phone 50% in 30 mins, claims the company. Despite there is LeEco’s involvement in the phone, it doesn’t come with its Supertainment package which allows premium subscription to many Indian media publishers free for a year. Overall, the Coolpad Cool1 Dual is a very good feature rich smartphone with excellent performance, design and battery life and offers good Dual rear cameras which provide some extra features, which no other phone in this price range offers. A good buy at this price. The Coolpad Max is now available under Rs. 15,000 after a huge price cut, you can go with it but, it still isn’t a very good buy for its price.
5. Lenovo Vibe K5 Note:
Lenovo has launched its much awaited phone, the Vibe K5 Note in India. The Indian version of the K5 Note comes with bumped up specs than its Chinese counterpart. And, the Vibe K5 Note is the best specked smartphone than its two predecessors, the K4 Note and K3 Note which were a great hit. So, let’s see what the Vibe K5 Note packs. Starting with the design, the Vibe K5 Note is the first phone in the ‘Kx Note’ series to sport a full metal design. It has got a nice symmetrical design, which looks beautiful and feels premium, its curvy edges on the back also makes it comfortable to hold in hands. The phone weighs 165 grams and has a thickness of 8.49 mm and doesn’t feel bulky. It sports a 5.5 inches Full HD display which has very good display quality, good viewing angles, good colors and good brightness. The phone runs on 1.8 GHz Octa Core Mediatek 6755 Processor, which is a decent performer but much better processors are available at this price, though normal users will not find any difficulties but heavy gamers should stay away from it. The phone comes with 3 GB and 4 GB RAM options. The Vibe K5 Note features a 13 MP rear camera with PDAF and is a good shooter, the pictures have good saturation and depth and the pictures come accurate but, the shutter speed is a little slow. Summing up the rear camera quality, it has good camera but again better camera phones are available at this price. The 8 MP front camera clicks good selfies, it comes with beautification mode and the selfies turn out good. There are two special software features which you only get in a Lenovo phone, TheatreMax and Secure Zone. TheatreMax is Lenovo’s Virtual Reality technology, it basically splits your phone’s screen into two parts for viewing with a VR headset so, with it, you can not only enjoy any video whether it is designed for VR or not but can also play games in the VR mode. Lenovo has also launched the new ANT VR headset and has also launched a remote controller for it so, you can operate the phone while wearing it in the headset. The TheatreMax technology is a really nice addition and multimedia users will truly love it. About Secure Zone, Lenovo’s phones have two zones – Open zone and Secure Zone, where both the zones operate independently from each other, which means you can run the two zones as two separate phones and can install two Whatsapp, two Facebook or any other apps. The phone runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Lenovo’s Vibe UI running on top, this time, Lenovo has optimized the Vibe UI even more and has made it leaner. The fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support on both the slots. For storage, it packs 32 GB of internal memory which is expandable upto 128 GB but, has a hybrid slot. It packs a Non-removable 3500 mAh battery which gives a good battery backup. Overall, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Note comes with a good design, good cameras, decent performance (though not enough for heavy gaming) and a good complete package but, it is the multimedia experience for which the phone stands out. So, if you have more multimedia consumption or want to enjoy the VR experience in your day to day life, the Vibe K5 Note will be the best mobile under 15000 Rs. for you. Lenovo has recently launched its much awaited Lenovo Phab 2 Plus smartphone with 6.4 inches screen to compete with Xiaomi’s Mi Max. The Lenovo Phab 2 Plus sports dual 13 MP rear cameras, 8 MP front camera, great design and rich audio and is a very good overall smartphone for those who love bigger smartphones, umm actually very big smartphones, and you can pick it above the Mi Max as well. Lenovo has also launched the newer Lenovo K6 Note for offline markets. It packs a 5.5 inches FHD screen, 1.5 GHz Octa Core Snapdragon 430 processor, 3/4 GB RAM, 16 & 8 MP cameras, Android 6.0, 4,000 mAh battery and an almost similar design and features like the K5 Note but, it is priced little higher than the K5 Note and starts at Rs. 13,999 for the 3GB + 32GB variant. So, if you want to buy a phone offline, the K6 Note can be a great option.
