1. OnePlus 3T:
The OnePlus 3 was already enough to win over the competition in the mid-range flagship phones segment but, the company was not satisfied with it, they have launched an upgraded version of the phone in just six months – the OnePlus 3T with an intention to lead the market without any phone coming close. The OnePlus 3T comes with an exact same design of the OnePlus 3. It packs full metal unibody design which is simple and elegant, it also feels light and premium in hands. It sports a 5.5 inches Full HD Optic AMOLED display (built by Samsung) which is excellent and almost perfect so, the phone gets full marks in the display department. The OnePlus 3T, despite being a mid-range smartphone, costing only around half of what the flagship phones cost, runs on Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 821 Processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU and 6 GB RAM. It is a beast in terms of performance, throw anything and it can handle it. It has the best processor in the world and is currently one of the most powerful Android smartphones. The OnePlus 3T features a 16 MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX298 sensor with 1.12 µm pixel size and f/2.0 aperture, it also comes with OIS & EIS. The camera has got good balance of everything and it can capture some really good quality images. It can also record 4K videos at 30fps. The front camera has been upgraded to 16 MP in the OnePlus 3T from the 8 MP front camera in the OnePlus 3. It comes with Samsung’s 3P8SP sensor with 1.0 µm pixel size, it is a pretty good selfie shooter and captures detailed selfies with accurate colors, it has also got EIS. The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which will be soon upgraded to Android Nougat. The company’s Oxygen OS runs on top, it has a near stock Android UI with few enhancements, it is customisable, stable and fast. The fingerprint scanner situated below the screen is ultra fast and accurate and works even when the screen is sleeping. In the OnePlus 3T, the battery capacity has been increased to 3,400 mAh, it gives good battery backup but more importantly, it comes with Dash Charging (OnePlus’s fast charging technology) support which charges the phone from 0% to 60% in under 30 minutes without overheating the phone, which is just amazing and is probably the fastest in the world. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It comes with 64 GB internal storage but there is no microSD slot, there is also a 128 GB storage variant which is priced higher. Overall, the OnePlus 3T is a true flagship phone which delivers all the latest flagship features at almost half price when compared to the big flagship phones. It has one of the best performances in the world and it is a great complete package. It has very powerful hardware which works efficiently with its stable software, it is near perfect in almost every department. The OnePlus 3T is worth every rupee and is undoubtedly the best phone under 30000 Rs. in India at present. The OnePlus 3 is still available at Rs. 27,999, it’s still a great mid-budget phone.

2. ZTE Nubia Z11:
ZTE has launched its most powerful smartphone Nubia Z11 in India recently. The Nubia Z11 looks like a really promising device, let’s get started with it design. It comes in a really premium metal unibody design in black and gold colors, the back of the phone feels very good to touch and hold and on the front, it has got a 2.5D curved corning gorilla glass. However, the biggest highlight, rather say achievement in the design of the Nubia Z11 is the bezel less display which looks absolutely amazing and adds a lot to the aesthetics of the phone. It also helps in making the phone more compact by reducing the screen to body ratio. So, in the design department, the ZTE Nubia Z11 is absolutely good, it has got one of the best designs for the price and is an eye catcher the moment you pull it out from the pocket. Coming to the display, it has got a 5.5 inches Full HD screen which has awesome display quality and thanks to the bezel less display, the screen looks more beautiful. It runs on the 2.15 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 6 GB RAM and delivers great performance like the OnePlus 3T. Games, multimedia, multitasking, everything is smooth here. When it comes to the optics, the ZTE Nubia Z11 packs the same sensor like the OnePlus 3T, Xiaomi Mi5 and the Zenfone 3 which is the Sony IMX 298 with f/2.0 aperture. It comes with OIS and clicks really good images with good depth, colors and saturation, the quality is good in both day light and low light conditions. It misses out on 4K video recording and offers video recording upto 2K resolution. The 8 MP front camera also has decent quality but it could have been a little better, still it’s not a big turn off, it does an acceptable job. The screen flash for the front camera is good. ZTE’s camera app is feature packed and includes lots of modes and features. The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with no words on if and when the Nougat update is coming. The Nubia UI 4.0 runs on top, it takes full benefit of the bezel less display and offers lots of features like double click on the edge to go back, swipe up/down from the edge to switch or start apps, swipe repeatedly from the edge to free up RAM, swipe from both edges to adjust brightness and more. These features are cool and actually come handy specially, double tap on the edge to go back, it reduces your thumb’s movement while using the phone with one hand. The Nubia UI also offers another handy feature – swiping up from bottom of the screen split’s the screen into two, it is very useful for multitasking. It packs a good fingerprint scanner on the back, it can also be used for lots of other activities, it also packs IR blaster. The Nubia Z11 is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, which gives a day’s battery backup for moderate to heavy usage. It supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology which is really very fast and one of the best. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support, it packs 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 200 GB but has a hybrid slot. Overall, the ZTE Nubia Z11 is a great complete smartphone with one of the best designs, great performance, excellent camera and all the required features. It offers a great value and user experience for its price and it’s one of the best mid-range phones. However, when it comes to the brand value, ZTE still falls behind its competitors like OnePlus, Asus and Huawei Honor which also offer excellent phones at the same price but, the Nubia Z11 still manages to take a lead from few of them based on its excellent offerings.
3. Asus ZenFone 3 ZE552KL:
The Zenfone 2 series of Asus was a good hit in India and recently, Asus has launched its much awaited Zenfone 3 series of smartphones. When compared to the Zenfone 2, the Zenfone 3 comes with great improvements in the design department, both in terms of looks and build quality. It comes with a metal body and a 2.5D curved glass on the front and back, the metallic edges on the side are also rounded, which makes the phone very comfortable to hold. The back panel has concentric circle design, which gives a good glossy reflection when brought under light. It weighs at 155 grams and has a thickness of 7.7mm. Summing up the design, the Zenfone 3 packs excellent looks, great premium build quality and a comfortable to use design. It sports a 5.5 inches Full HD display which has a very good display quality. It has 600nits brightness which means the visibility under outdoor conditions or direct sunlight is good. The Zenfone 3 ZE552KL is powered by the 2.0 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Processor designed with the 14nm process, which is advanced technology designed to improve performance, use lesser power and save battery. It is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 4 GB RAM and delivers excellent performance for every usage. Although, at this price the Snapdragon 820 processor was expected but still the Snapdragon 625 is also very good, obviously we cannot compare it with the Snapdragon 820 but still it will not disappoint you for heavy usage also. Coming to the camera, the Zenfone 3 packs a 16 MP rear camera with Sony’s latest IMX298 sensor (also used in OnePlus 3T and Xiaomi Mi5), f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis OIS, 3-axis EIS, dual-LED flash and supports 4K video recording. Asus has also introduced TriTech AF which combines laser, phase detection and continuous auto-focus, which results in really fast auto-focus. It can capture really good quality images and gets full marks. The camera lens is also protected with Sapphire Glass. The 8 MP front camera is also very good. Also, Asus’s camera app is also very feature rich, it has lots of filters and modes and also includes a complete manual mode which lets you adjust the camera’s raw settings the way you want. The phone runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Asus’s ZenUI 3.0 running on top. The ZenUI comes with lots of added features and customizations. It has good speakers and a good fingerprint scanner situated at the back. It uses USB Type-C 2.0 for fast data syncing and charging. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support on both the slots. It packs 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 2 TB with a microSD card, using a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery which delivers acceptable battery backup but a bigger battery would have made the phone much better. Overall, the Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL is a great phone, it packs great design, good performance, excellent cameras and all the latest features and delivers a true flagship like experience. However, when compared with what other phones like the OnePlus 3T are offering around the same price, it feels a bit overpriced but remember, it is not a bad phone at all. Asus has also launched a more compact Zenfone 3 ZE520KL with 5.2 inches screen at Rs. 21,999, you should go with it if you need a more comfortable phone.
|OS||Android v6.0.1 Marshmallow | UI - ZenUI 3.0|
|CPU||2.0 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Processor|
|RAM||4 GB RAM|
|SCREEN||5.5 inches, Super IPS+ capacitive touchscreen, protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3|
|DISPLAY||Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels), 401 ppi pixel density|
|CAMERA||Rear Camera: 16 MP, Flash: Yes (Dual-LED flash) | Front Camera: 8 MP, Flash: No|

4. Huawei Honor 8:
Huawei has launched its much awaited mid-range smartphone Honor 8 in India. Starting with the design of the phone, the Honor 8 comes with a very stylish and premium design. It packs 2.5D curved glass on both front and rear and has a metallic frame in between. It looks beautiful and feels great and gets full marks for build quality. The Honor 8 comes with a 5.2 inches Full HD screen, the screen size is good for one-handed usage and the display quality is very good. The phone runs on Huawei’s own 2.3 GHz Octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 950 processor coupled with 4 GB RAM and Mali-T880 GPU. The processor’s performance is good but at this price, the Honor 8’s rivals come with Qualcomm’s much more powerful Snapdragon 820 processor. However, if we consider the performance of the phone standalone, it works well for normal usage, heavy multitasking and heavy gaming also and, doesn’t heat up much while gaming. The greatest part of the Honor 8 is its camera department. It packs two 12 MP rear cameras which work simultaneously, out of which one clicks color images and the other one clicks monochrome (black and white) images. Both the images are then merged, it allows good depth in the images and also allows you to change the aperture size even after clicking an image. It also includes laser assist autofocus which is very fast and the camera app provides lots of options and a full manual mode. Talking about the image quality, the camera performance is great. The 8 MP selfie shooter which comes with auto beautification is also very good. The Honor 8 runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with company’s Emotion UI 4.1 which comes with lots of added features and customizations. The phone packs a fast and accurate fingerprint scanner situated on the back, it can also be used for some extra activities like, to swipe photos in the gallery. A very disappointing thing in the phone is, it is a single sim device. The phone supports 4G but lacks support for VoLTE, which is now much more important after the entry of Reliance Jio in the Indian market. For storage, it comes with 32 GB internal memory which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card. It has USB Type-C port for data syncing and charging. The Honor 8 is backed by a non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery which comes with fast charging support and provides good battery backup. The audio quality via the speaker on the phone is rich and loud. Overall, the Huawei Honor 8 is a very good smartphone, it packs great cameras, great design, good performance and a very good all round experience. Almost everything about the phone is good and it can be another good choice under 30000 Rs.
|OS||Android v6.0 Marshmallow | UI - Emotion UI 4.1|
|CPU||2.3 GHz Octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 950 Processor|

|DISPLAY||Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels), 423 ppi pixel density|

5. HTC Desire 10 Pro:
HTC which is struggling to regain its hold in the budget smartphone segment has made a shift in its strategy and has decided to focus in the mid-range smartphones where it still has some buyers. The HTC Desire 10 Pro unlike most phones these days comes with a matte finish body with metal linings around the edges, the rear camera and antennas, it looks like typical HTC phones which necessarily isn’t a bad thing, it looks beautiful. However, at this price, one would definitely expect a metal unibody phone according to the trend but, the Desire 10 Pro’s build quality despite being made of polycarbonate is very good, it feels really premium and the matte finish is excellent to touch. On the performance front though, it disappoints with the 1.8 GHz Octa Core Mediatek Helio P10 processor, at this price where the competition is offering the likes of Snapdragon 820 and even the 821 it is a let down. It is paired with 4 GB RAM and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. If we talk about the actual performance, it is good for day to day usage like apps, web browsing, or multimedia but if you love playing high-end games you must stay away from it. It packs a 20 MP rear camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture and laser autofocus and has excellent picture quality. The camera app includes lots of shooting modes including the PRO mode and also supports RAW format. The 13 MP front camera which also includes a Selfie Panorama mode is a also a very good shooter. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with HTC’s sense UI running on top. The Sense UI is pleasing to the eyes and is much more customisable now with tons of HTC themes. It packs a fast fingerprint scanner situated on the back. The Desire 10 Pro comes with HTC’s BoomSound which produces rich and loud sound quality. It has got dual microphones for noise cancellation. It is a dual sim phone and comes with 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 2 TB. It has got 3000 mAh of Li-Ion battery which provides good battery backup and also comes with fast charging support. Overall, the HTC Desire 10 Pro is a half-flagship phone, it has good display, design and cameras but a weaker performance. However, it is still wrongly priced, its competitors offer a lot more at the same price. So, the HTC Desire 10 Pro is not a very good buy but, if you have low usage or love HTC phones you can consider it.
