BlackBerry DTEK50 and DTEK60 Android smartphones launched in India starting at Rs. 21,990

The Canadian smartphone company BlackBerry has launched its latest Android smartphones, the DTEK50 and DTEK60 in India at a price tag of Rs. 21,990 and Rs. 46,990 respectively, at an event in New Delhi. The company has also announced a new distribution partnership with Optiemus.

The BlackBerry DTEK50 and DTEK60 are being called as ‘world’s most secure Android smartphones’ as they are customised with BlackBerry Enterprise services and comes with built-in DTEK security app by BlackBerry that constantly monitors the use of other applications installed in the device. The company is also touting that the smartphones are ready for enterprise adoption with its Enterprise Mobility Management solutions.

Both the smartphones run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with BlackBerry’s skin on top. Both packs an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an 84-degree wide-angle lens and an f/2.2 aperture. Connectivity options include 4G LTE (with support for Indian LTE bands), Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC.

The BlackBerry DTEK50 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a pixel density of 424 ppi. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card.

The smartphone packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and a 6-element lens with an f/2.0 aperture. It is backed by a 2610 mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support that is rated to deliver up to 50% charge in 51 minutes, with up to 17 hours of talk time. It measures at 147×72.5×7.4mm and weighs 135 grams.

On the other hand, the BlackBerry DTEK60 sports a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display with a pixel density of 534 ppi. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC (with two Kryo cores clocked at 2.15GHz, and two Kryo cores clocked at 1.6GHz) coupled with 4GB of RAM. It also has a fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear panel.

The smartphone packs a 21-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and a 6-element f/2.0 lens. It comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. It is powered by a 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and rated to deliver up to 26 hours of talk time. It measures at 153.9×75.4x7mm and weighs 165 grams.

Both the smartphones come in Black colour. The BlackBerry DTEK50 smartphone will go on sale starting from 13th November, while the BlackBerry DTEK60 will go on sale in early December.
