So, after lots of social media teasing the Moto X Play is launched today in India and as expected, the phone is receiving a good response from the users. The Moto X Play’s price starts from Rs. 18,499. The phone is going to be available from 15 Sep midnight on Flipkart but, before you rush out to buy the phone or discard it, it is important to know where does it stand in this highly competitive market.

First, let’s get started with its specs. The Moto X Play has two USP’s – Camera & Battery. The phone has got a whooping 21 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detect Auto-Focus (PDAF), Quick Capture, tap anywhere to capture and Color Correlated Temperature (CCT) dual LED flash. The camera app comes with features like 4X digital zoom, auto HDR, burst mode, night mode, panorama, and Drag to focus & exposure. When it comes to video shooting, it can record 1080p HD video at 30fps, it can also record slow motion videos and supports video stabilisation. The phone also sports a 5-megapixel front camera.

The second most exciting thing about the phone as said above is its battery. It houses a 3630 mAh battery which offers mixed usage up to 30 hours (claims the company). It supports quick charging and can be charged for 8 hours of usage with just 15 minutes of charging. The phone is TurboPower enabled for use with the TurboPower 15 charger sold separately at 1,000 Rs.

The Moto X Play sports a 5.5 inches 1080p Full HD display which turns out the pixel density of 403 ppi, the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It also comes with water repellent nano coating. The phone runs on the 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core CPU coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2 GB RAM. It runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with stock Android UI, a good thing about Motorola phones is that they continue to get latest Android updates faster than most flagship phones.

Motorola offers the phone in two storage variants with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage, good part is that, Moto X Play comes with an expandable storage upto 128 GB with the help of a microSD card. It has the dimension of 148 x 75 x 10.9 mm and weighs 169 grams.

It is a dual sim 4G enabled phone and supports NFC, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth.

As you can see in the specs comparison with the Asus Zenfone 2, Xiaomi Mi4 and OnePlus One, the Moto X Play may not be the best performer but it can surely deliver good performance, it’s just that if high performance or heavy gaming are your primary concerns, then there are better options like Zenfone 2 available. But when it comes to its strong points viz, camera and battery life, it’s the best one out there. Moreover, it delivers a pure Stock Android UI which gives a great user experience.

So, we will finally say that, if you are not into heavy gaming, the Moto X Play is a great complete phone out there and if you are looking for good camera and battery, it is a must buy phone.
