OnePlus 3T with Snapdragon 821 SoC, 6GB RAM, 16MP front and rear cameras announced

The Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus has finally launched its much-rumoured flagship phone, dubbed as ‘OnePlus 3T’, which is an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3. The pricing of the smartphone was already tipped last month.

Firstly, noting the differences between the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T, the latter sports a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC (with 2 cores clocked at 2.35GHz and 2 cores clocked at 1.6GHz) which is clubbed with Adreno 530 GPU, compared to the Snapdragon 820 SoC on the original. It comes in both 64GB and 128GB storage models, compared to just a 64GB model on the OnePlus 3.

The OnePlus 3T packs a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with Samsung 3P8SP sensor, 1.0 micron pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and 1080p video recording, switching from 8MP Sony IMX179 sensors with 1.4-micron pixels. The OnePlus 3T gets a larger 3400 mAh battery compared to the 3000 mAh offering on the OnePlus 3. It also supports Dash Charge (5V 4A) fast charging technology.

The OnePlus 3T is identical with the OnePlus 3 in design and rest of the specifications also remains the same. It also sports anodized aluminium unibody design with 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The processor is coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It boasts the same 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Sony IMX298 sensor, 1.12-micron pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, OIS, 4K video recording at 30 fps, and 720p slow motion at 120fps.

The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based Oxygen OS 3.1 with a planned upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat later this year. The fingerprint sensor is embedded into the home button only. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and GPS/ A-GPS. It has the same USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also measures at 152.7×74.7×7.35mm and weighs at 158 grams.

The OnePlus 3T comes in new Gunmetal colour instead of Graphite, the Soft Gold colour remains the same and comes only in 64GB version. The 64GB variant is priced at $439 (approx. Rs. 29,800) and the 128GB variant is priced at $479 ( approx. Rs. 32,500). It will be available through OnePlus.net starting on 22nd November in the US and starting from 28th November in Europe.
