Snapdeal launches Cash@Home service to deliver cash at your doorstep

To help people with cash in the demonetisation period, Snapdeal has launched a new service called as ‘Cash@Home’, under which people can order Rs. 2000 cash and get it delivered at their doorstep.

In order to avail the Cash@Home service, users first need to install the Snapdeal app, turn on location and check if cash is available nearby. If cash is available, users will get a push notification and an SMS notification, taking them to the order page. After that, users will have to pay a convenience fee of Rs. 1 through FreeCharge or a debit card at the time of booking the order.

When the Snapdeal logistics executive will arrive at your home, you will need to swipe your ATM card (Any Bank) on the PoS machine. As soon as the transaction will complete, the executive will hand over Rs. 2000 in cash. However, there is a Rs. 2000 per day limit on the booking, but the important point is that you don’t have to order anything else.

The company says that it has launched the service as a goodwill gesture which will allow people to access cash without having to queue up at their bank or at the ATMs. Snapdeal will be using the cash that it receives through Cash on Delivery (CoD) to operate this facility.

At Snapdeal, we aim to be the marketplace that seamlessly services every customer need. As the country transitions to a more digitally enabled economy, we’ve launched a series of timely initiatives – from wallet and card on delivery, to extending FreeCharge partnerships to smoothen this transition. The launch of the cash on demand service is intended to further help our consumers tide over any cash crunch that they might face in addressing their daily needs.

– Rohit Bansal, Co-founder, Snapdeal.

The Cash@Home service is already live in Gurugram (Gurgaon) and Bengaluru and will be extended to other major cities in the coming days.
