10 Best Android Phones under 20000 Rs (August 2016)

[section label=”List of Phones (6 to 10)”] [section label=”6. Nextbit Robin”]

6. Nextbit Robin:

Nextbit Robin, the cloud based phone, first started as a Kickstarter project and after few months of its global launch, it is now launched in India. ‘Robin’ is the name of the phone and ‘Nextbit’ is the company which manufactured it. The phone promises some innovative new features like the Cloud integration, which could be the tech of future but before coming to it, let’s first see what all it packs. The Nextbit Robin is a distinct stand out phone right from its design. It has a rectangular body made up of plastic and it comes in some interesting color options and has a thickness of just 7mm. The built quality of the phone is excellent, the plastic used is soft and gives a great feel when you hold this phone in hands. The design language is very different from other phones present in the Indian market. It sports a 5.2 inches Full HD screen which has good display quality. It is powered by the 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and delivers pretty good performance. It features a 13 MP rear camera which has an above average quality and the 5 MP front camera has decent picture quality. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based Nextbit OS which is deeply integrated with the cloud, which is the highlight of the phone. The User Interface is close to stock Android, however the company uses its own icons. The phone has 32 GB internal storage but doesn’t come with a microSD slot, instead it comes with 100 GB free cloud storage which is its USP. The Cloud integration is interesting, what it does is, it automatically backs up you pics and apps in the cloud when your internal storage starts filling up. Important thing is, when it backs up a photo in the cloud, it deletes the original photo and leaves a low resolution image in your gallery and when you open it, it downloads the original image from the cloud. Same with the apps, it allows you to archive less used apps in the cloud and leaves a grey icon of the app in your phone, when you open an archived app, it takes a little time and downloads the app’s data into your phone and you can use the app from where it was, the company claims that you can free up a lot of space by archiving the apps. Well, this cloud mechanism sounds good and the thing of the future but in a country like India where even the average broadband speed is pretty poor this dependency on the internet does not sound cool, it may leave you with some frustrating moments. The phone includes a fingerprint scanner integrated with the power button situated on the side. The Robin packs two front facing speakers which deliver very good and loud sound. The bad thing about the phone is that it is a single sim device, also it has a smaller 2680 mAh battery which has average battery backup. Although it includes the USB Type-C port for fast charging. And before you jump in to buy the phone, you must know that the company currently has no service centres in India and if anything goes wrong and you need a repair/replacement you need to send the device to San Francisco to get the job done! Overall, the Nextbit Robin with its cloud based approach, good performance and a different and interesting design is a good unique smartphone although, very few users in India will be actually able to use its cloud based features but, even if you forget the cloud and use it as a normal phone it still is a good device but, as the company has no service centres in India you are all on your own so, better stay away unless you have madly fallen in love with the phone!

[section label=”8. HTC Desire 828″]

8. HTC Desire 828 (3GB RAM):

HTC has upgraded its Desire 828 which was launched late last year with more RAM and internal storage. The phone sports the same plastic body with 5.5 inches Full HD screen with very good display quality. It runs on a 1.5 GHz Octa Core MediaTek MT6753 Processor now coupled with 3 GB of RAM and delivers good performance for normal usage and light gaming. It comes with a 13 MP rear camera with BSI sensor, OIS and LED flash and a 4 MP (Ultrapixel) front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 26.8mm lens, both the cameras can record 1080p videos. The picture quality of both the cameras is good. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based HTC’s Sense UI 6.0 which is beautiful. A good thing about the smartphone is, it comes with dual front facing HTC BoomSound speakers with Dolby Audio which deliver loud and rich audio and enhance the multimedia experience on the phone. It is a dual sim smartphone with 4G support. For storage, it comes with 32 GB internal memory which is further expandable upto whopping 2 TB with the help of a microSD card. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 2800 mAh battery, which delivers day long battery backup. Overall, the HTC Desire 828 with increased 3 GB RAM is not a bad phone but, it is far behind the competition, whether it is the performance or design so, it won’t be a great buy at this price but if you still like the phone, specially for its multimedia experience you can go with it. You can also go with the newly launched HTC Desire 825 which comes with its unique splashy design 2 GB RAM and Android Marshmallow but it has got only HD display at this price.

[section label=”9. Sony Xperia C4″]

9. Sony Xperia C4 Dual:

The recently launched Sony Xperia C4 looks quite impressive. It houses the typically awesome design language of Sony but the USP of the phone is its 5 MP selfie camera which comes with soft LED flash. The flash can automatically adjust according to the lighting conditions whereas the front camera has a 25 mm wide-angle lens and Exmor R sensor which helps in reducing noise in the image. The front camera lets you click “PROselfies” with HDR and you can also shoot good selfie videos even in the night. The 13 MP rear camera also comes with Exmor RS sensor and is capable of taking high quality images. When it comes to performance, the Xperia C4 is powered by 1.7 GHz Octa Core Mediatek MT6752 Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM. The performance is quite good. The phone sports a 5.5 inches 1080 x 1920 pixels Full HD display with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and it is protected by Scratch-resistant glass. The display quality is very impressive with the 401 ppi pixel density. The phone runs on Android v5.0 (Lollipop) with Sony’s customised skin which is very beautiful. The phone supports 4G and dual sim. It comes with 16 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB. The 2600 mAh battery gives decent battery life to the phone. Overall, the Sony Xperia C4 can be another good choice for selfie lovers and those looking for a good phone from a reputed international brand. The new Sony Xperia XA with its premium design, Android Marshmallow, 13 MP rear and 8 MP front cameras can be a good choice over the Xperia C4 Dual if you want a 5 inches phone or if you like its features.

It packs a big 3700 mAh battery with Fast charging feature that can charge the phone from 0-100% in 70 minutes, claims the company. It is a dual sim phone with 4G LTE support. The phone is exclusively available on Gadgets360.com at Rs. 19,999 and comes with company’s Q-invite system and, if you want to buy the phone without the invite, it will cost you Rs. 21,999. The company has announced that it already has 200 service centres in India. Overall, there is no doubt it is a very powerful smartphone with excellent features and great cameras but, as the company is new entrant in India, only risk taking buyers should go with it, for now.
