Best Smartphone under 10000 Rs. since Sep-17

1. Lenovo K8 Plus:

Lenovo launched the K8 Note just last month and now they have launched a smaller variant of it, called as the Lenovo K8 Plus. Like the K8 Note, the K8 Plus also packs some worthy specs and retains most of the good things of the K8 Note. Let’s start with the design first, the K8 Plus packs a metal body with little plastic on top and bottom of the back. It looks exactly similar to the K8 Note and also feels nice and premium in hands. The K8 Plus comes with a smaller 5.2 inches screen, which makes the phone comfortable to use, it has got rounded edges and a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, which again make the phone comfortable to hold. Summing up, it has sturdy, good looking design which is more comfortable to use… Expand Review

The screen has full HD display which has good quality. The K8 Plus is powered by the 2.6 GHz octa core Mediatek Helio P20 processor paired with 3/4 GB RAM and Mali-T880 GPU. This Helio P20 processor works efficiently and handles multitasking and heavy games well. The temperatures are also acceptable for extended gaming. The biggest highlight of the K8 Plus is its cameras. It comes with a dual rear camera setup on the back which includes one 13 MP and one 5 MP camera, both the cameras work simultaneously to click beautiful pictures, the 13 MP camera captures the subject while the 5 MP camera captures additional details and depth and produces bokeh effect. It comes with depth effect which provides lots of options and allows you to cut out the subject and change the background. The picture quality is very good with accurate colors and high depth of field, and has one of the best cameras at its price. In low light conditions also, it manages to click good images but there can be some noise at times. On the front, there is an 8 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree wide-angle lens and LED flash. The selfies also come out good and beautiful, even at night the selfies are good due to the front flash. The phone runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Marshmallow and the good thing here is, Lenovo does not use its Vibe UI anymore and all its smartphones now come with Stock Android. This will ensure a better user experience and probably faster Android updates like its Motorola smartphones. The phone packs a fast fingerprint scanner on the back, it also comes with Dolby Atmos support for better audio experience and also supports Lenovo’s TheatreMax, which provides great VR and 360 degree video experience by allowing you to view your normal videos in VR mode. It also comes with a dedicated music key which allows you to play, pause or change songs without even opening the lock or taking the phone out of pocket. A great thing is that, the music key is completely customisable and can be set to open any application like camera, clock, maps, etc. if you don’t want to use it for music. The K8 Plus comes with dual sim and 4G, VoLTE support. It comes with 32 GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB and thankfully uses a dedicated slot for the microSD card and the two sim cards. The phone packs a big 4000 mAh battery which delivers good battery backup and comes with fast charging support.

Should you buy?
Overall, the Lenovo K8 Plus is an all-round feature packed smartphone. It packs excellent dual cameras, good performance, premium and comfortable design, latest and stock Android, big battery and lots of multimedia capabilities. It suits to the needs of all types of users and offers a package which was never seen at this price. It also delivers a very good user experience and is currently the best phone under 10000 Rs.

2. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (3 GB):

Xiaomi has launched the new Redmi Note 4 which is the successor to its massively popular Redmi Note 3 which is the no. 1 best selling online smartphone in India so, the Redmi Note 4 has very big shoes to fill in, let’s see what all it has got. Starting with the design, it is built on a similar design language like the Redmi Note 3 with few differences like a 2.5D curved glass on front and a better back. The excellent build quality is one of the best at its price, it also feels nice and premium in hands… Expand Review

The Redmi Note 4 comes with a 5.5 inches Full HD screen with good display quality. Sadly, it misses out on Gorilla Glass screen protection. It runs on the 2.0 GHz Octa Core Snapdragon 625 Processor and comes in 2/3/4 GB RAM variants with Adreno 506 GPU. It obviously doesn’t deliver performance like the Snapdragon 650 on the Redmi Note 3 but it is still pretty much capable of handling everything smoothly, it also handles games well without much heating. On the camera front, it packs a 13 MP rear camera which is a better shooter than the 16 MP rear camera of the Redmi Note 3, it has good picture quality with good colors and details. The 5 MP front camera is also good, it comes with various beautification modes which enhance the selfies. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8.0 running on top, the company has promised the Nougat update in the coming few weeks. The MIUI 8.0 is a beautiful ROM with lots of customisations, it also offers lots of useful features like Dual Apps (two accounts of apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, etc.), Second Space (creates a new partition in the phone which is protected with password/fingerprint and can be used to install completely different sets of apps and also has a separate gallery, basically first space and second space behave like two different phones), although many manufacturers provide features like second space but in Xiaomi’s MIUI it is perfectly executed, it’s fast and easy to access, the MIUI also offers quick ball. In our opinion, among all the ROMs from different Android manufacturers the MIUI is the most feature rich and by far the best ROM out there, it adds a lot of value to the phone. The phone packs a good fingerprint scanner and also includes Infrared Blaster which allows you to control your TV, AC, music system and many other electronic appliances, it is a very good feature and comes handy. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It packs 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via a hybrid slot. Coming to another good thing about the phone, it is backed by a 4100 mAh battery which delivers excellent battery backup. Disappointingly, the Redmi Note 4 misses out on fast charging which few other competitors offer at this price, it is not a deal breaker but it would have made things sweeter.

Should you buy?
Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is a great budget smartphone. It has almost perfect balance of everything, be it design, performance, camera, software or battery life it delivers a very satisfactory experience. So, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (3GB RAM) with its great user experience is still one of the best phones under 10000 Rs. in India.

3. Billion Capture+ (3 GB):

In the crowded smartphone market, one new smartphone brand has entered India and unlike most of the smartphone brands which emerge out of China, the new brand ‘Billion’ is by Flipkart, one of India’s biggest e-commerce portal. Being an Indian brand, all the design, engineering, software management and assembling of the phones will be done in India (parts are purchased from outside India), keeping in mind the specific needs and usage pattern of the Indian people, which is a great thing. Now, coming to the first phone from Flipkart, the Billion Capture+… Expand Review

, it packs in some interesting specifications at an impressive price point. Starting with the design, the Billion Capture+ comes in a metal unibody which has good and sturdy build quality, looks wise it has common but decent looking design. It sports a 5.5 inches full HD display which has good display quality. The 2.5D curved screen is protected with Asahi Dragontrail Glass. The phone runs on 2.0 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU and comes in 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants. The processor is very popular and has been used in most of the best and popular mid range smartphones, it delivers very good performance for normal day to day usage, multitasking and also handles heavy games without lagging and over heating, it is also battery efficient. The highlighting feature of the Billion Capture+ is its dual camera setup on the back. It packs in two 13 MP Samsung sensors with f2.0 aperture, with one color sensor and another monochrome sensor. It comes with PDAF and dual LED flash, the camera app comes with lots of modes and filters including a pro mode and the portrait mode with adjustable blur levels. The picture quality of the Billion Capture+ is good, it captures good details but, the colors come out little un-natural. The Billion Capture+ comes with a Super Night Mode, which basically uses lights entering both the sensors to capture good low light shots but it has kind of mixed success, some images come out well while some poor. It clicks good depth enabled shots with good bokeh effects. It can record 1080p videos at 30 fps but doesn’t include EIS or OIS. On the front, there is an 8 MP selfie shooter which captures good selfies. Summing up the cameras on the Billion Capture+, it has good cameras but its biggest rivals, the Moto G5s Plus and Mi A1 have better cameras. Another highlight of the smartphone is its software. It runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with Stock Android UI, with very little tweaks or customisations. The company has also promised an upgrade to Android Oreo. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the back and is fairly accurate and unlocks the phone in a decent speed. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE. It comes in two variants with 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage, both are expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card but uses a hybrid slot. The phone also provides unlimited cloud storage by tronX. It uses USB Type-C for data syncing and charging. The phone is backed by a Non-removable 3500 mAh Li-Polymer battery which delivers very good battery backup and supports fast charging which gives 7 hours of battery life with 15 minutes of charging. Flipkart has also promised pan India after sales service network via its owned F1 Info Solutions.

Should you buy?
Overall, the Billion Capture+ from Flipkart is an all round smartphone which takes care of all the vital aspects necessary for a complete user experience. It has good performance, good design, good display, good stock Android software and good cameras, which however can be improved via software upgrades. Even the phone’s pricing is also very good and as Flipkart is a trustworthy company we can expect a good after sales service from the Billion brand as well. So, the Billion Capture+ can be a serious contender and a good buying choice as well.

4. Xiaomi Redmi Y1 (3 GB):

Xiaomi has launched, what can be said as its first budget focused selfie-centric smartphone in the Indian market – the Redmi Y1 with a 16 MP front camera. The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 packs in most of its hardware similar to the very popular Redmi 4, in a bigger form factor. It comes with a 5.5 inches screen with HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and 236 ppi pixel density. The HD resolution looks acceptable in a 5 inches phone however in a 5.5 inches display the difference between HD and Full HD becomes much more noticeable. Apart from that, the display quality is good and the colors are punchy. When it comes to the design, it looks like a… Expand Review

typical Xiaomi smartphone, however one thing has changed if you have seen the Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4 or the Mi A1, it has got a plastic body. The edges and the back of the Redmi Y1 looks like metallic but they are built of plastic with just metallic finish paint. The build quality and weight management are good. The Redmi Y1 runs on the 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It comes in two variants, one with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and the other with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, both are expandable up to 128 GB. The performance of the phone is good, it handles day to day usage, multitasking as well as some gaming smoothly. The Redmi Y1 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 9, which is the latest from the company and comes with lots of improved features. Xiaomi’s MIUI is the best customised Android ROM according to us, it is fast, beautiful, customisable and feature rich. And with the MIUI 9, the UI has become even more beautiful, and one thing which many would love, it comes with a huge collection of wallpapers and every time you pick up your phone, you get amused with a new beautiful wallpaper on the lock screen (the lock screen wallpapers can be set to change in every 15 mins, 1 hour, 3 hours or a day). Now coming to the biggest highlight of the smartphone, its 16 MP front sensor which comes with ƒ/2.0 aperture, 76.4° wide-angle lens, Beautify mode with 36 smart beauty profiles and front facing LED flash. It is an excellent selfie shooter which clicks selfies with good colors and depth in both good and low light conditions. The Redmi Y1 is easily the best selfie shooter in this price range. When we move to the 13 MP rear camera, it comes with ƒ/2.2 aperture and PDAF. It is a good shooter as well with some grains in low lights, however it is acceptable. The fingerprint scanner on the back is very fast and accurate. It also comes with an IR blaster situated on the top edge and the Mi Remote app which lets you control your TV, set-top box, AC, music systems and lot more devices. It is a dual sim phone, thankfully with dedicated slots. The Redmi Y1 comes with a non-removable 3080 mAh Li-Ion battery which gives a good battery backup. However, Xiaomi could have fitted a bigger battery in the phone as it had done with the Redmi 4, fitting a 4100 mAh battery in just a 5 inches phone without increasing the thickness. The Redmi Y1 lacks fast charging like most of Xiaomi’s budget smartphones.

Should you buy?
Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 provides an excellent package for selfie lovers. However, if selfies are not the top priority for you, you may want to consider the fact that it has HD display while Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4 with a much better performance, display, and bigger battery is available at just Rs. 1000 more. So the math is simple, if you love taking selfies, the Redmi Y1 can be an absolutely great choice for you otherwise going with the Redmi Note 4 or others will be a better choice.

5. Moto E4 Plus:

Motorola, has for the first time launched an attractive feature boasting smartphone in its Moto E series lineup – the Moto E4 Plus, which comes with a massive 5,000 mAh battery. The phone delivers excellent battery backup and runs easily for 2 days for most of the users. It also supports 10W rapid charging. Coming to its design, the Moto E4 Plus comes with a metallic body with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top, the back has a typical Motorola circular camera unit. The overall design is very similar to the Moto G5 Plus and the build quality is also good… Expand Review

However, it is a bit bulky with 198 grams of weight and 9.55 mm of thickness, and although Lenovo has managed a lighter weight with even bigger battery in its Lenovo P2 but, it is totally justified as the E4 Plus is a more affordable phone. It comes with a 5.5 inches HD display, at this price most of the phones offer a full HD display and here the Moto E4 Plus surely lags. The screen comes with oleophobic coating which reduces the fingerprints and smudges. The phone is powered by the 1.3 GHz quad core MediaTek MT6737 processor paired with 3 GB RAM and Mali-T720 GPU. This processor is obviously not a very good choice from Motorola, it delivers average performance and lags while multitasking and gaming, however it smoothly handles day to day usage, apps and browsing. The Moto E4 Plus runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Stock Android UI and will also get future Android update, which is the highlight of Moto phones. Motorola has just added few gestures and actions like twist the phone to open camera, chop twice to turn on flashlight, etc. which are few helpful additions to Stock Android. It comes with Moto Display instead of a notification LED and shows time and important notifications when the screen is locked. It packs a 13 MP ƒ/2.0 aperture rear camera which can capture only 720p video recording. The picture quality is decent with some noise in low light clicks. On the front, there is a 5 MP camera with ƒ/2.4 aperture lens and a good thing is, it also comes with front LED flash for low light selfies. The front camera quality is also decent. The camera app also comes with a PRO mode and easy to use UI. It packs a fast fingerprint scanner on the home button, which can also perform ‘home’, ‘back’ and ‘recent apps’ actions by using tap, gestures and you can disable the on-screen navigation buttons. It comes with Dolby Atmos support and has good audio quality. The Moto E4 Plus is a dual sim phone and thankfully with dedicated slots, it also support 4G and VoLTE. It comes with 32 GB of onboard storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card.

Should you buy?
Overall, the Moto E4 Plus is good budget smartphone with a great battery backup, excellent pure software, good design and decent cameras. However, it is not a very powerful phone and is not suitable for heavy users. But if you don’t have heavy usage, the Moto E4 Plus offers a very good package with huge battery and its popular stock Android and delivers a pretty good user experience. Can be a very good choice under 10000 Rs.

If you have budget so take samsung J5 and you won’t believe it’s amazing phone, specially single handed user..And you make take any phone with specific latest features if you don’t want to change your phone with in one year so go with samsung….

  8. I have Lenovo K4 note, considering Dolby Atmos which earphone will be best under ₹1000. I prefer soft base with clear sound quality.
I have very bad experience with Skullcandy and Sennheiser’s service centre. Now I am planning to buy JBL t150a. Will it be good option?
