Xiaomi has launched a new sub-brand in India, known as ‘Poco’ and before getting to its first smartphone Poco F1, let’s talk about the Poco sub-brand itself. It’s a known fact that Xiaomi has not introduced its top of the line flagship smartphones like the Mi 6 in India and the company has been reluctant to bring its premium mid-range phones in the country, where the premium mid-range smartphone segment is getting bigger and more users are willing to spend a good amount of money for the flagship smartphones like the OnePlus 6, which has dominated the premium segment… Read More »

4. Motorola One Vision:

Should you buy?
The most important highlight of the Motorola One Vision is its tall 21:9 aspect ratio display (which is the first for any smartphone in India) which is the same aspect ratio in which movies are produced in so, it delivers an absolutely delightful experience if you watch the supported videos on the phone. Also, due to the tall display, the phone has a low width and is easier to hold and use (its curved back also compliments the purpose). However, there is also a drawback of this aspect ratio as most of the videos on YouTube & other platforms have 16:9 ratio so, when you zoom in a larger part of the video gets cropped. Apart from the display, it also packs one of the best cameras for the price, excellent design & build, good performance, all the features & more importantly, it comes under Android One program which will ensure fast updates & clean UI. Among all the good things in the phone, there is the hole punch cutout for the front camera which will draw your attention a lot, most of the times a little annoyingly as it has big borders but, with time you will get used to it. Overall, the Motorola One Vision is a really interesting package with lots of goodness, however, a 3K-4K lower price would have made it perfect but, it still is a worthy phone to go for.

Heavy users  Normal day to day users  Heavy gamers  Moderate gamers Camera lovers  Selfie lovers  Multimedia consumption
Pros Cons
  • Amazing experience to watch movies/videos in 21:9 aspect ratio
  • Excellent quality rear & front cameras with great portrait & night shots
  • Good quality display with high brightness
  • Excellent build quality and beautiful design
  • Good performance for daily usage & gaming
  • Android One with cleanest UI & promised fast updates
  • Moto Actions & Moto Display are super useful
  • Decent battery backup with 15W fast charging
  • Excellent loudness & sound clarity
  • Face unlock + Fingerprint scanner
  • Great user experience
  • Big borders around the front camera hole and thicker bezels and chin
  • Most YouTube videos don’t support 21:9 aspect ratio & bigger parts are cropped
  • No notification LED

5. Realme 3 Pro:

Should you buy?
Overall, the Realme 3 Pro is a very powerful and feature packed smartphone for its price. It packs in a great performance and an amazing set of front and rear cameras for the price. Then, there is the beautiful good quality display along with a big battery to keep the phone running for extended sessions of gaming or watching videos (both of which it handles perfectly, btw) but the real icing on the cake is the 20W fast charger included in the box, which charges the phone amazingly fast, unlike any other phone in this segment (its biggest rival, Redmi Note 7 Pro has just a 10W charger). And add to it the latest version of Android, along with some useful features for gaming and more in the ColorOS, the Realme 3 Pro becomes a very complete and exciting package, which is certainly one of the best in the price range of around Rs. 15,000.

6. Samsung Galaxy M30:

Should you buy?
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy M30 reflects Samsung’s new intent for its budget smartphones as it packs some good features at a reasonable price. The most highlighting things about the Galaxy M30 are the triple rear cameras, AMOLED display and the massive battery, all of which have been executed pretty well, especially the wide angle lens at this budget price is pretty impressive. Although the Galaxy M30’s Exynos processor is not as powerful as the Qualcomm processors around the same price, it still is very good for day to day usage and even gaming, although heavy gamers shouldn’t settle for it. The Galaxy M30 has also got a very good front camera, decent design and now when it has received the Android Pie update with One UI, it has become a very good smartphone as a package and add with it the trust and brand value of Samsung, it becomes a very good smartphone for the price.

Should you buy?
The Oppo F11 Pro brings in one of the hottest features of a pop-up/sliding front camera in the mid-range and by the virtue of it, the phone’s big display looks clean and beautiful and gives you a notch-free experience. The Oppo F11 Pro also packs in very good front and rear cameras and specially performs very well under artificial/low light conditions. The Oppo F11 Pro comes with a plastic back which looks like glass and has got a very beautiful gradient finish to it and adds premiumness to the design. 8. Vivo V15:

Should you buy?
The Vivo V15 continues Vivo’s tradition to bring in the most trending features in the mid-range phones and packs in a pop-up selfie camera which allows for a clean notch free experience and has also got triple rear cameras. It captures excellent selfies with great details and the rear cameras also do a good job, especially the wide-angle lens adds a different perspective to the shots. The Vivo V15 despite being build of plastic has a good build quality and fresh gradient design which looks pleasing. It also offers a big display with good quality, good performance, big battery with good backup, fast charging, a very fast fingerprint scanner and latest software. However, despite charging a good amount, the Vivo V15 also cuts out on a few things and offers lower value when compared to its competitors. So, overall it is a good phone but much better phones are available for a lower price and you should not really go for it unless you want the pop-up camera badly!

  12. Sir I want to buy a smartphone. Which one is best among Samsung on nxt 64gb, moto g5+, redmi note 4, vivo v5+, oppo f3,

    1. Hi, as far as I have tested, I found its camera to be one of the best at its price and I have also tested it for gaming and found no severe heating issues.

  13. Heii rahul,
    I m a bit confused for moto g 5+ and lenovo z2
both are of same price range . i was basically looking for 5′ mobile so moto g5 also fits in the bill.
i juz play clash of clans in games, few utility softwares, hardly use camera at all, a decent battery, display n good performance is all i need
so which should i choose between those two. and plzz specify the reason too.
    thanks.

  14. I am very confused to select phone under 20k
What about mi note 4 64gb?
I need minimum 4 gb ram and 64gb internal
I am using only for calls watch movie listing music and some playing normal games like Coc and mini games pls tell me which phone i can buy?

    1. Hi, the iPhone SE packs some great hardware and is a very good phone, the only problem is its small 4 inches screen size. I would recommend you to first try the 4 inches screen for some time and see if it suits you as it is very small for multimedia, gaming and even day to day operations. So, going with the Moto G5 Plus will be a better option.

  15. which phone i should buy vivo , xioami , oppo,lenovo,samsung,moto,assus,panasonic,gionee,huiae , range-15000 to 20000

  16. Looking for the Best Camera Phone with good features and performance.
Primary aim is Camera and Storage with great display.
Also Selfies and Music is an option as well.
Confused which Phone is the Best?

  17. Hi Rahul,
I have been using moto g 2nd gen since its launch. There has been minor problems. Now I want a 4G supported phone, I guess MOTO G5 plus could be a good option. But the 3000mAh battery is not much appreciable. Now Honor 6X and Lenovo P2 seem quite interesting too.

So, will you suggest me the best among three with their cons and pros?

    1. Hi, because of the battery efficient Snapdragon 625 processor the Moto G5 Plus delivers good battery backup. But if you need a serious battery backup, the Lenovo P2 can be a great choice.

  18. Hi,

I am looking to buy a phone under 20k. I am looking for the following:

    – better camera
    – atleast 4GB RAM
    – better internal memory (>32GB)

I am confused between nubio z11 mini s and Moto G5 plus and Moto M. While I love Moto due to unadultrated Android, Moto G5 has just 12 MP camera as against 23 MP of nubio.

    Please can you clarify?

    1. Hi, Moto G5 Plus is the best. The image quality of the rear camera of both the Moto G5 Plus and Nubia Z11 Mini S is very good, it’s only the front camera where the Z11 Mini S is a clear winner. So, it depends on your usage which one you should pick. However, according to me, Moto G5 Plus as a complete package is a much better smartphone.

  21. Hi RAHUL , which phone should I buy around at15000price range??I need very good CAMERA , DISPLAY , SPEAKER,and I am a heavy gamer,And Moto g5 plus if available in offline market in future ???? Please tell me . THANKS

    1. Hi, go with the Moto G5 Plus, it has great cameras, good performance and good display, its speakers are not the loudest but will do the job. The Moto G5 Plus may come to the offline markets but there are no more details on it.

  22. Hey Rahul,

I am a great of Moto one of reason could be stock android. But when it comes performance I could see Lenovo Z2 Plus is better then Moto M. Now Moto G5 is also on release. Please help me choose between Moto G5 Plus and Moto M and Lenovo Z2 Plus. Also I would also be grateful if you can tell me if any other better phones are coming to market in the upcoming months then I could probably wait for it.

    1. Hi, go with the Moto G5 Plus, it is the best and most balanced out of the three. It has good performance as well but if you are a heavy user then you should go with the Lenovo Z2 Plus. Talking about the upcoming phones, the most exciting phone to launch soon is the Xiaomi Mi 6, it is expected to release in April and might come in two variants, the low end variant would cost somewhere around 20k-25k. It will be an amazing phone for sure but its India launch could see a bit more delay. Now, considering the current options you have, all the phones are pretty good value for money so, settling with probably the Moto G5 Plus would be a better choice than waiting for months in my opinion.
