3. ZTE Nubia Z11:

ZTE has launched its most powerful smartphone Nubia Z11 in India recently. The Nubia Z11 looks like a really promising device, let’s get started with it design. It comes in a really premium metal unibody design in black and gold colors, the back of the phone feels very good to touch and hold and on the front, it has got a 2.5D curved corning gorilla glass. However, the biggest highlight, rather say achievement in the design of the Nubia Z11 is the bezel less display which looks absolutely amazing and adds a lot to the aesthetics of the phone… Expand Review

It also helps in making the phone more compact by reducing the screen to body ratio. So, in the design department, the ZTE Nubia Z11 is absolutely good, it has got one of the best designs for the price and is an eye catcher the moment you pull it out from the pocket. Coming to the display, it has got a 5.5 inches Full HD screen which has awesome display quality and thanks to the bezel less display, the screen looks more beautiful. It runs on the 2.15 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 6 GB RAM and delivers great performance like the OnePlus 3T. Games, multimedia, multitasking, everything is smooth here. When it comes to the optics, the ZTE Nubia Z11 packs the same sensor like the OnePlus 3T, Xiaomi Mi5 and the Zenfone 3 which is the Sony IMX 298 with f/2.0 aperture. It comes with OIS and clicks really good images with good depth, colors and saturation, the quality is good in both day light and low light conditions. It misses out on 4K video recording and offers video recording upto 2K resolution. The 8 MP front camera also has decent quality but it could have been a little better, still it’s not a big turn off, it does an acceptable job. The screen flash for the front camera is good. ZTE’s camera app is feature packed and includes lots of modes and features. The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with no words on if and when the Nougat update is coming. The Nubia UI 4.0 runs on top, it takes full benefit of the bezel less display and offers lots of features like double click on the edge to go back, swipe up/down from the edge to switch or start apps, swipe repeatedly from the edge to free up RAM, swipe from both edges to adjust brightness and more. These features are cool and actually come handy specially, double tap on the edge to go back, it reduces your thumb’s movement while using the phone with one hand. The Nubia UI also offers another handy feature – swiping up from bottom of the screen split’s the screen into two, it is very useful for multitasking. It packs a good fingerprint scanner on the back, it can also be used for lots of other activities, it also packs IR blaster. The Nubia Z11 is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, which gives a day’s battery backup for moderate to heavy usage. It supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology which is really very fast and one of the best. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support, it packs 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 200 GB but has a hybrid slot.

Should you buy?
Overall, the ZTE Nubia Z11 is a great complete smartphone with one of the best designs, great performance, excellent camera and all the required features. It offers a great value and user experience for its price and it’s one of the best mid-range phones. However, when it comes to the brand value, ZTE still falls behind its competitors like OnePlus, Asus and Huawei Honor which also offer excellent phones at the same price but, the Nubia Z11 still manages to take a lead from few of them based on its excellent offerings.

4. Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro:

Asus has launched its new Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro in India, which is one of the first phones in its Zenfone 4 series in the country. The Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro comes with the best specifications, the Zenfone Selfie series has ever seen. It comes in a very premium metallic unibody design which is slim (6.85 mm) and light weight (147 grams) and feels excellent in hands. The build quality is very good and the two colors, Deep Sea Black and Sunlight Gold look beautiful. The 5.5 inches AMOLED display with 500 nits brightness has excellent quality, the viewing angles are good and the colors are bright and natural… Expand Review

It also comes with a 2.5D curved Coning Gorilla Glass. The phone is powered by the 2.0 GHz Octa core Snapdragon 625 processor, which is a popular and proven performer, it was also used in the Zenfone 3 also. It comes with Adreno 506 GPU and 4 GB RAM, and handles daily usage smoothly and plays games well without heating and is also battery efficient. However, the highlight of the phone is its camera department, which packs some massive number, obviously justifying its name. Let’s talk about the front camera first. The dual camera setup comprises of a primary 24 MP camera with Sony’s flagship IMX362 dual pixel image sensor having f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 5 MP camera with 120° wide-angle. The front cameras are also accompanied with LED flash. The selfies come out really excellent and have good details, natural colors and wide angle. It has one of the best selfie cameras in the market. The camera app also offers a Portrait mode, Beautify mode, Selfie Panorama, GIF Animation and lots of modes and filters. The 16 MP rear camera again with a Sony sensor is an very good shooter as well. It also supports a full Pro mode. Both the front and rear cameras can record 4K UHD video at 30 fps and support 3-axis EIS (electronic image stabilization). It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with company’s updated ZenUI 4.0, which now packs some very useful features like Twin apps, Safeguard, Themes and Lock Screen Wallpapers and looks like it is taking the Xiaomi’s MIUI way but, I still feel the UI, visually in particular, needs a lot of work and needs to becomes simpler, cleaner and minimalist. Also, instead of getting even more customised and heavier, it should move more towards the stock Android which will allow faster updates. But, keeping these few things aside, the ZenUI 4.0 now packs more useful features and is a fine custom skin which runs well. The Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro embeds a very fast fingerprint scanner on the home button in the front. It comes with 64 GB of onboard storage which is expandable up to 2 TB via microSD card, it additionally provides 100 GB of free storage on Google Drive for 1 year. It has two dedicated sim slots and the phone supports 4G. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, thanks to the processor, it delivers good battery for one day use. It supports fast charging and comes with a 5V / 2A, 10W charger. It also comes with DTS Headphone:X, which provides 7.1 channel virtual surround sound over the headphones.

Should you buy?
Overall, the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro right from its name, is all about its excellent front camera. It is truly a wonderful phone for selfie lovers with hard to beat features and quality. However, the greatest thing about the phone is that, it is a pretty balanced phone. It packs in an excellent display, excellent premium design, good rear camera, good performance, good storage and latest software along with good battery life. What this means is, the Zefone 4 Selfie Pro is a very good smartphone to buy, not only for selfie lovers but for all types of users, unlike most of its selfie focused competitors from Oppo, Vivo and Gionee.

5. Apple iPhone 6 (32 GB):

The iPhone 6 is Apple’s 2 generations old smartphone which was launched in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, out of which the 16 GB variant was available around 30000 Rs. for quite some time now but, we never recommended going for the 16 GB variant as it is very low storage and despite having a good phone, you could never use it to the fullest because of running out of space most of the times. But now, Apple has released a new 32 GB variant of the iPhone 6, keeping everything else the same. So the big question is, how good the iPhone 6 is in the lot of some great and powerful Android smartphones? Let’s find out… Expand Review

First and the most important thing one must remember to understand the iPhones is that, they will never blow away your mind with the spec sheet but are equally capable of handling everything so, we can’t just start comparing this phone with the Android phones out there, iPhones are all about excellent user experience with quality hardware/ software and attention to minute details. The iPhone 6 comes in a beautiful metal unibody design which is extremely well-built and sturdy, at 6.9 mm it is thin and comfortable however, it is slippery also. It weighs at just 129 grams. It comes in a 4.7 inches Retina HD (750 x 1334 pixels) display with 326 ppi pixel density and has very good quality, although it is not a Full HD display but it is good. The iPhone 6 runs on the 1.4 GHz Dual Core Apple A8 processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and PowerVR GX6450 GPU, you must be thinking that a Dual core processor and only 1 GB RAM in 2017? Yes, that sounds terribly low but the performance is good, it scores 59,947 in Antutu benchmark v6.2 and can still beat many of the Octa core, 3/4 GB RAM Android phones. This is possible due to Apple’s tight integration between hardware and the iOS which, because of its fundamental structure and working, needs much lower RAM to function smoothly, you can understand this from Apple’s newest iPhone 7 which still has only 2 GB RAM and a Quad core processor and has one of the best performances in the world. So apart from numbers, the phone runs very smoothly and doesn’t slows down with time, it can also handle heavy gaming very well. Coming to another strength of the phone, its 8 MP rear camera, again don’t go by the numbers, it is excellent and clicks great photos. When it comes to the front, it has got a 1.2 MP selfie shooter, which again is not as bad as it might sound but honestly, at this price there are much better selfie centric phones so, it’s not for selfie lovers however, if you click selfies occasionally, then it will do the job, it clicks decent/acceptable selfies. Above all these, the best part of the phone is the software which powers it. It runs on Apple’s latest iOS 10.3 which is a great mobile operating system, if you are an iPhone user you know what it is and if you are an Android (it is a great mobile operating system as well) user, you will find it completely different and exciting to use. The iOS 10.3 is very user friendly, there is Siri, Widgets, Notification centre, Control centre and more. You also get some great apps by Apple and some popular iOS exclusive apps as well. The whole experience with the iOS 10.3 and even the UI is very beautiful. You also get a fingerprint scanner situated in the home button below the screen, called as Touch ID. Apart from unlocking the phone, it can be used to authorise purchases from the App store or payments via Apple Pay (not available in India) and is also integrated into many third party apps for security. The audio via speakers and the headphones is rich and loud. Sadly, it is a single sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. The 32 GB onboard storage is not expandable. The iPhone 6 is backed by a non-removable 1810 mAh battery which delivers around a day’s battery backup with moderate usage.

Should you buy?
Overall, the iPhone 6 is a great phone. It is beautiful premium compact smartphone with good performance and excellent rear camera and delivers a great unmatched user experience with its beautiful user friendly and one of the most advanced operating systems iOS. It also carries the brand value of Apple which gives an unbeatable feeling as well. All in all, a great device with good value for money. And for users looking for a premium compact smartphone, the iPhone 6 is the best phone under 25000 Rs.
