Honor 10 Review:

Huawei, after releasing its mid-range flagship Honor View 10 in only January this year, has now come up with its new Honor 10, which will carry forward the mid-range flagship crown for the company. Let’s get started with the review of the phone. The first thing one can notice about the Honor 10, is its stunningly beautiful design. It comes with a glass back which has a beautiful reflective design, which reflects different colors at different angles so, on the blue color variant, you can see purple, pink and blue shades of course. It has got a very stylish and unique look, the build quality is also very good and feels premium. Having 153 grams of weight, the Honor 10 feels relatively lightweight.

It sports a 5.84 inches Full HD+ Bezel-less display, and as it is common in 2018, it has also got a ‘notch’ (display cutout) on the top which houses the front camera, earpiece, and sensors. It comes with 19:9 aspect ratio and the display quality is good. When it comes to the performance, the Honor 10 is powered by the same Kirin 970 processor which was also used in the Honor View 10. It is a very powerful processor and still delivers excellent flagship-level performance. Although it can handle everything thrown at it, it tends to overheat at heavy loads. It also comes with a dedicated NPU (neural-network processing unit) which independently handles AI related tasks. The Honor 10 has got 6 GB of RAM and Mali-G72 MP12 GPU.

The Honor 10 comes with powerful dual rear camera setup having one 16 MP f/1.8 aperture primary RGB sensor and a 24 MP Monochrome sensor, which is used to capture additional depth and details. It captures excellent images with good bokeh effects. The Monochrome sensor can also capture beautiful black & white images on its own. Even the low light shots on the Honor 10 come out good. It can record 4K videos but is limited at 30 fps, and not at 60 fps, which is a growing trend these days. Disappointingly, it doesn’t come with OIS, which should be there at this price point.

On the front, there is a 24 MP f/2.0 aperture selfie shooter, which is capable of clicking very beautiful selfies. It also comes with 3D Portrait Lighting like the Apple iPhone X, and gives you professional studio like photography effects, which you can flaunt on your social media, and use it as your profile pictures. The Honor 10 boasts of its ‘AI Cameras’ and uses artificial intelligence to automatically select the best photography modes and to enhance the facial beauty, although it’s not necessary that it will produce perfect results and most of the times you will find yourself not using the AI features. The camera app comes loaded with lots of modes and filters, including a PRO mode and gives you a rich photography experience.

The Honor 10 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with company’s EMUI 8.1 running on top. The EMUI has evolved itself a lot and packs tons of features and customization options, it still has some bugs and still needs to become more minimalistic and less cluttery. A big talking point about the Honor 10 is its under glass ultrasonic fingerprint scanner situated on the front, just below the display. Although it is good, it is not as accurate as the regular fingerprint sensors. The fingerprint scanner comes with gesture support for navigation, which feels smooth. It also comes with Facial Unlock which works well. The dual sim Honor 10 comes with 128 GB of internal storage, which is good but, it does not come with a microSD slot.

The Honor 10 is backed by a 3400 mAh Li-Po battery, but the battery backup is not completely satisfactory, however, it comes with fast charging support. It comes with USB Type-C for data syncing and charging. It also comes with NFC and Infrared for additional connectivity.
