As expected, Oppo has launched their new flagships R9s and R9s Plus in China. These are the successors to the R9 and R9 Plus smartphones which were launched in March this year. The Oppo R9 was later launched in April as Oppo F1 Plus.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Oppo R9s sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It is powered by 2.0 GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The processor on board is paired with 4 GB of RAM. It is backed by a 3010 mAh battery.
On the other hand, the Oppo R9s Plus sports a 6-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The device is powered by the newly launched Snapdragon 653 MSM8976Pro octa-core processor clocked at 1.95 GHz and coupled with Adreno 510 GPU. The processor is paired with 6 GB of RAM. It is backed by a bigger 4000 mAh battery.
Coming to the cameras, both the smartphones sport a 16 MP Sony IMX398 sensor on the front with f/1.7 aperture and 6P lens. On the rear of the devices is another 16 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. The Oppo R9s additionally comes with OIS+ for recording videos without any blur. This new sensor can allow 2X more light and is 40% faster in focusing.
Both the devices run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Color OS 3.0 on top and support Oppo patented fast charging technology VOOC flash charge that will offer 2 hours of talk time with just 5 minutes of charging. The fingerprint sensor is embedded into the physical home button on the front. The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus come with an all-metal unibody design with rounded corners.
Both the smartphones come with 64 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card (Hybrid slot). Other connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, and Micro USB 2.0 port.
The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus will be available in Gold, Rose Gold and Black colour variants. The Oppo R9s is priced at 2799 Yuan (approx. Rs. 27,700), while the Oppo R9s Plus is priced at 3499 Yuan (approx. Rs. 34,700). The devices are now available for pre-order, and the sales start from October 28th in China.
