Xiaomi Mi 5s with Snapdragon 821 SoC and 5.15-inch display launched in China

After numerous rounds of leaks and rumours, Xiaomi has finally launched its flagship smartphone – ‘Xiaomi Mi 5s’. Xiaomi hinted about this smartphone few days ago, with a big S word in the teaser image. After which there were some more rumours that instead of Mi 5s, Xiaomi will be launching Mi Note S, which is certainly not as of now.

As rumoured, Xiaomi has ditched the physical home button in Mi 5s and it features Qualcomm’s Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which is present under the glass and beneath the oval-shaped capacitive home button. Unlike Mi 5, the Mi 5s comes with an all metal body with a curved back.

On the front, it sports a 4-megapixel camera, with same f/2.0 aperture, 1/3″ sensor size, 2µm pixel size, 80-degree wide-angle lens and 1080p video recording.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with new MIUI 8.0 on top. It is backed by a 3200 mAh battery along with Qualcomm’s Fast Charge 3.0 support. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE support, WiFi 802.11 (dual-band), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB 3.0 Type-C. The device measures 145.6 x 70.3 x 8.25 mm and weighs 145 grams.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s comes in Dark grey and Golden colors with glossy brushed metal finish and the Silver and Rose gold colors with frosted matte finish. It is priced at 1999 Yuan for the 64 GB storage variant and 2299 Yuan for the 128 GB storage variant in China. It will go on sale starting from September 29 in China.
