Micromax Bharat 2 is one of the cheapest 4G smartphone around and it looks like buyers in India are liking this ultra affordable tech. Micromax has apparently sold over half-a-million Bharat 2 smartphones in India since it was launched. The Micromax Bharat 2 is priced at Rs. 3,499 and is amongst the few cheapest smartphones to feature 4G connectivity.

Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer of Micromax, Shubhodip Pal commenting on the success, said:

“At Micromax, we are always working consistently to make technology accessible for our users. With the launch of Bharat 2, we have truly driven the next phase of smartphone adoption in the country as in a short span of 50 days we have sold more than half a million Bharat 2 smartphones.”

Micromax Bharat 2 was launched back in April and was routed to aim first time buyers. As mentioned earlier the smartphone features 4G LTE with VoLTE support and to make that available at a very affordable price has led the smartphone to success in India. The sale for 4G handsets was on the rise especially after the Jio effect and in such case the buyer with a very tight budget could also enjoy 4G services with the Bharat 2.

Shubhodip Pal further added that, “We also believe that Bharat gives Micromax opportunity to kick-start a digital revolution, helping India progress. The company has further strengthened its distribution network from 34-35,000 to 60,000 outlets as majority of the users in this category are offline users and are looking for compelling products that connect them digitally. Going ahead we expect the Bharat series to contribute over 40% to the Micromax’s portfolio”.

Coming towards the specifications, the smartphone sports a 4-inch WVGA display and has got a Spreadtrum SC9832 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3 GHz under the hood. The SoC is paired with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
