Seagate Backup Plus 5TB; World’s largest capacity portable hard disk announced

by Best Tech Guru TeamNovember 16, 2016

Seagate has extended its Backup Plus Portable line of hard-drives with a new 5TB HDD, which is the world’s largest capacity mobile drive at present in the market. Seagate has made sure that it is easy to carry and one can store everything at just one place.

The Seagate Backup Plus 5TB portable hard-drive is big and heavy in capacity, but not in size and weight. It measures at 11.5×7.8x2cm, almost twice as thick as a Backup Plus Slim drive (1.2cm) and weighs at 247 grams. This is possible with the new BarraCuda internal drive, featuring 2.5-inch 1TB platter technology that was announced last month. It is engraved with aluminum cover making the drive very durable.

This 5TB Backup Plus portable HDD is very convenient and easy to carry as it doesn’t require an external power source. This new Seagate drive is capable of transferring data at a speed of up to 120MB/s over a USB 3.0 connection. It doesn’t ship with a USB Type-C cable though, so you will need to use a dongle if you buy a laptop that only has USB Type-C ports.

Getting started with this 5TB Seagate HDD is very easy on both PC and Mac computers by installing the NTFS driver for Mac. With Seagate Dashboard software one can easily backup data at one-click to the 5TB drive or the cloud. One can schedule the backups as well, plus apps for both Android and iOS helps you to back up your precious mobile pictures and videos. You can also backup your social media contents.

The Seagate Backup Plus 5TB portable HDD comes in black, silver, red and blue colors. It is priced at $189.99 (approx. Rs. 12,870) and will be available from this month.
