Vivo X20 Plus UD with Under Display Fingerprint Scanner officially launched in China

Vivo was all over the news recently when they showcased their latest development in smartphone technology, the Under Display Fingerprint scanner at the recently concluded CES’18. Since then everybody had been waiting for the announcement of a smartphone which would feature the Clear ID FS9500 optical fingerprint sensor created by the developers at Synaptics. Well, today that announcement came through, as Vivo has officially launched the Vivo X20 Plus UD in China, with a price tag of CNY 3,598 (approximately Rs. 36,100) and it will go on sale in the country, from February 1st, 2018.

The UD (Under Display) Fingerprint sensor which was officially named as the Vivo Under Display makes use of an ultrasonic sensor, which was showcased by the smartphone company at MWC 2017 Shanghai. In the latest edition of the event, Vivo had promised to showcase first ready-to-produce in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone that used an optical fingerprint sensor created by Synaptics. Now with the official announcement in place, the phone will start hitting various markets within no time. The Vivo X20 Plus UD which features a full metal unibody will be available to the consumers in Black color with Gold accents on the frame and around the rear camera. Within its metal frame, it will feature 6.43-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) screen with 18:9 aspect ratio Super AMOLED display. The Vivo X20 will be powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 660 14nm Mobile Platform (Quad 2.2 GHz Kryo 260 + Quad 1.8 GHz Kryo 260 CPUs) and for graphics, it will be dependent upon an Adreno 512 GPU. As of now, only a single variant of the Vivo X20 Plus UD has been launched, with a memory configuration of 4 GB RAM accompanied by 128 GB internal memory, which is further expandable up to 256 GB with microSD.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD uses Hybrid Dual Nano SIM slots and runs on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box with Funtouch OS 3.2. For optics, the smartphone is dependent upon a dual camera set-up on the rear which comprises of a 12 MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture LED flash, OIS, and a second sensor of 5 MP.  On the front end, the smartphone features a 12 MP front-facing camera with soft LED flash, f/2.0 aperture.

It will also be equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack, ES9318 DAC + amp for Hi-Fi audio and for connectivity, makes use of 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS. As for the dimensions of the smartphone, the phone measures 165.2 × 80.02 × 7.35mm and weighs 183.1g. Most of which comes from a large 3905mAh (typical) / 3800mAh (minimum) battery that supports fast charging.
