Xiaomi India is all set for its launch event on 20th March in New Delhi where it is expected to launch its ‘Redmi 4’ series smartphones. Xiaomi has sent press invites which reads ‘TIME TO GET SMARTER‘ where letter ‘A’ is emphasised in the word ‘Smarter’ indicating the launch of Xiaomi Redmi 4A smartphone. Along with this, the company may also launch the Xiaomi Redmi 4, Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime and the Xiaomi Redmi 4X which are already available in China, however the possibility of arrival of these phones is low. The event will be hosted by the VP of Xiaomi India Manu Jain and product lead Jai Mani.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 Prime were launched last year in china. The Redmi 4 was priced at CNY 699 which roughly translates to Rs. 6,900, whereas the Redmi 4 Prime was priced at CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 8,900) and the Redmi 4A was priced at CNY 499 (roughly Rs. 4,900). The Xiaomi Redmi 4X was launched last month and was made available in two variants, one with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage priced at CNY 699 (roughly Rs. 7,000) and another with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage priced at CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 8,900).
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A sports a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) display, a 1.4 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 425 SoC with 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage, 12 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera and 3120 mAh battery. It is a budget smartphone and the cheaper variant will not be equipped with finger print sensor.
Taking about the Xiaomi Redmi 4, it contains a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) display, a 2 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC along with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. It bears a 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera with a 4100 mAh battery.
The Redmi 4 Prime is on the higher edge amongst all the four, it has a 5-inch Full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, a 2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. Apart from this, rest all the specifications are same as that of the Redmi 4. The Redmi 4X sports all the specifications similar to Redmi 4 except the processor where, the 4X runs on an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor.
All the smartphone of the ‘Redmi 4’ series run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 running on top.
